It's not a trigger, just an ability. You hold priority after the token is made to Stoke before the declare attackers step.

It's useful to know these things for competitive REL events where you need to be exact about these things in case you get paired with "that guy."

Playing MTGO REALLY helps with this. Your understanding of turn structure increases dramatically once you start playing online.

My favourite list in PT testing was:

[deck]BG Rock[/deck]
Creatures
4 Courser of Kruphix
4 Desecration Demon
4 Pack Rat
3 Scavenging Ooze

Non-creature Spells
2 Abrupt Decay
1 Bile Blight
2 Devour Flesh
1 Duress
1 Golgari Charm
4 Hero's Downfall
4 Thoughtseize
1 Ultimate Price
4 Underworld Connections

Lands
4 Forest
1 Golgari Guildgate
4 Llanowar Wastes
3 Mutavault
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Swamp
4 Temple of Malady
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

Sideboard
1 Bile Blight
2 Doom Blade
2 Drown in Sorrow
2 Duress
2 Erebos, God of the Dead
1 Golgari Charm
3 Mistcutter Hydra
1 Silence the Believers
1 Ultimate Price
[/deck]

Beats up on MBC and Esper. Reasonable game against Burn because of the incremental life gain and because you can keep getting back Courser. Ultimately not good enough because you're
quite weak to BW Midrange.

I saw the Conley Woods vs Ivan Floch match last night. Ivan's expression was great. It's like you could see him thinking, "The fuck is this?" and then chuckling to himself, "The fuck is this FNM deck at the PT?"

I need somebody to constructively talk me out of playing this tomorrow at a Modern tournament:

[deck]Four Color Burn[/deck]

The deck looks focused as anything. But dat manabase...

My other option would be this:

[deck=R/g Burn]
Creature 14
4 Goblin Guide
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Vexing Devil

Burn 26
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Searing Blaze
4 Skullcrack
2 Flames of the Blood Hand
4 Molten Rain

Land 20
4 Arid Mesa
4 Scalding
Tarn
10 Mountain
2 Stomping Ground

Sideboard 15
4 Searing Blood
4 Destructive Revelry
2 Peak Eruption
2 Cryoclasm
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Guerilla Tactics
[/deck]

I like the less painful manabase and the way it can punish other players' manabases. It just doesn't hit as hard as the other deck.
I trust you guys to give me some solid advice.

I think I would just lose to any Zoo variant or something like Merfolk. I'm not sure about the Game 1 vs Affinity. Technically, I can bring in all 15 cards against Affinity if I felt like it though.

I want the Molten Rain for Tron and other slower decks that rely on their complex manabase.

Tron is on the "Wurmcoil on T3/4 or die" plan against us. I suppose it could stop Colonnade or a Foundry to shrink Nacatls. I just think it is too slow for what we want to do. We want the game over T4/5. Any 3 mana spell I cast had better say "you win the game" on it.

Besides, I want all of my spells to just be able to do damage. Rakdos Charm is the weird exception in that it can deal damage, but it's usually not brought in to do that specifically. Firedancer can be removed very easily.

It is simple and straightforward. I do think you lose too much not adding either black or white, though. I would say adding white is better because Helix/Charm since you have Revelry to deal with a lot of nonsense. Not sure about Lavamancer, he didn't make the cut in my list. Too slow.

Lavamancer is very good in certain matchups, but lately he's been doing nothing but eat removal. I cut down to 2 copies in my Legacy and "non-greedy" Modern Burn deck. The 4 Color Burn just can't run him for the simple rule of the deck - every card must do immediate damage somehow. While still an excellent card (and I mean the same thing for Vexing Devil), he can be situational.

Played Affinity to a 3-1-1 finish at an IQ today, split in top 4 and mock-lost (scooped to my opponent so he could have the invite but we played anyway for lulz.) in the finals to Birthing Pod. I always forget that Linvala is 4 mana and not 3, so I kind of got shit on while my opponent was at 2. I had the Galvanic Blast in hand but no red source. Feels bad man, but it didn't count for anything anyway so fuck it.
