MJ being MJ.MJ "Burn is an insanely good matchup [for MBC]. You have thoughtseizes and duresses and Gray Merchants and they can't beat any of those cards"
Goes 0-2 drop in DE against Burn.
MJ "I have determined that no one likes playing Burn. The people that play Burn don't have a choice"
Chat comment "Except for that guy from CFB"

Serious question: I know everything's in beta mod currently, but how has peak eruption been? IDK how you're boarding for the mirror with this list, but I'm guessing something like -ALL creatures, + eruption/chain/chandra, maybe some combo of wear/tear mortars/toil/trouble? Boarding out YP and chandra could be insane but blanking all of their removal just seems powerful. Every searing blood/chain they draw is just dead.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Nah back on creature plan.
Peak Eruption has been surprisingly good; its not dead late and slamming it turn 3 is brutal; it puts you a little ahead and sometimes they miss the next drop and the game is effectively over.

The problem with that plan is that if your opp. know what your doing he/she could just board all removals and run a much leaner build then yours while you go on defense mode, with all your 3cc and 4cc spells T_TSerious question: I know everything's in beta mod currently, but how has peak eruption been? the plan would def. be more effective if it was kept in the dark until it was released on a GP or something.

LP: I just got beaten by Purp in 3 games mainly due to Peak Eruption. Game 2 it set me back a turn and game 3 I had to use a Boros Charm to save my mountain.
On the other hand I did win round 1 thanks to Blind Obedience in g3 after my opponent used two Peak Eruptions that game. But the early tempo loss could be more useful than the late life gain.
Also in our match both of us boarded out Phoenix but left in YP.

Trying to play more and get real testing in. Got in 10 games today.
Mostly mirror, Bant control or Esper control.
Won 2 of 3 in Mirror, won 2 of 2 for Bant and won 4 of 5 for Esper
Tested with 4 Mutavault and even with the limited number of games, I got stuck with 2 and 3 Mutavault very early 3 times. Would have preferred the temple.
Assemble over Mutavault in side. I just don't want to overload on Mutavault and when you want Assemble, you really want it.
Wear//Tear for instant speed is my untested preference...
I've been more comfortable with Toil//Trouble over Viashino Firstblade but I didn't see any blind obedience at all today...

I am undecided on 4th Mutavault - probably prefer 3. Temple of Silence gets the nod. I don't think I even want the 4th on the board though. Maybe we play 24 lands and Chandra main?
So far I prefer Glare of Heresy over both Revoke and Wear, but I prefer Wear over Revoke. I haven't ever lost a match to MBC where any of these cards would have helped. I wish we had a way to stop Bw Devotion from Revoking our shit though.
I don't like either Toil or Firstblade for my paper meta (TONS of Blind Obedience, literally everywhere, people splash for it) and currently am playing 0 copies of both spells in my 75.

Of course I have Wear//Tear in my board then face Naya Midrange; I mean, I won anyway because that deck is awful, but woulda been sweet!

My siedboarding approach is the opposite - I want to beat what the good players are playing since that's who I see on the top tables. Marginally played decks I could care less about.

My experience at the last few really competitive events has been that if I don't face GR Monsters in Round 1, I won't face it because it doesn't beat anything and its a terrible deck. And yeah, if your fringe matchups are better than 50% I think that is fine; player skill goes a LONG way.
Im not saying my approach is correct, just that it is the approach I prefer.

Went 3-1 running:
[deck=MDU's Chandra's Zurm]lands 23
8 Mountain
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
2 Boros Guildgate
3 Mutavault
1 Temple of Silence
1 Temple of Abandon
Creatures 8
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Chandra's Phoenix
Other 4
2 Chained to the Rocks
2 Chandra, Pyromaster
Burns 25
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
4 Warleader's Helix
4 Shock
2 Skullcrack
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
Sideboard 15
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Toil/Trouble
1 Glare of Heresy
1 Wear/Tear
2 Chained to the Rocks
2 Skullcrack
2 Blind Obedience
2 Assemble the Legion[/deck]
I beat two known grinders + 1 unknown then proceeded too loss the finals in the most tilting fashion ever (I even recorded it ) it was G4 - R3 my Opp. was playing Ux Devotion - I killed everything so he was on top-deck mode while I was on 20
with 2x Chains and WLH helix in Hand - he proceeds to just kill me with 2/3 just because I NEVER see my white source T_T.
That said the main turning point of that match was me NOT killing the spector on my turn while he only had 1 mana open (I had two LS in hand I was worried about that lizard spell so I decided to kill it on his turn, he proceeds too top deck 1x counter (he had another counter in hand) and use his specter to rip a R/W land).
Anyhow, since this happen more times then I like i'm going up the W color count into 12.

The only cards which differs from your list Z would be the Extra Chandra, Pyromaster (both MD), Blind Obedience, 4th Shock and Wear // Tear.
So here is my mini-review:
I never regretted drawing Chandra, Pyromaster (heck I even dropped her against Jund Monster) I value her in the MD because she provides the deck an alternative angle of attack esp. with our current set-up so going on the "defend the queen" plan with burns and YP$ until you ultimate is very viable.
I have the 4th Shock because i'm not running Ash Zealot, I didn't want to drop the Aggro MUs too much (+ I like Shock with YP and CP).
I didn't draw Blind Obedience, but I still believe it would be a beating against Monsters and Burn.
[card]Wear // Tear[/card] is better now that monster and junk are packing Bow or Whip in the SB, it never really feels dead since you can just hit [card]
Courser of Kruphix[/card].

Got DEstroyed running this tonight 1-3
[deck]Three Gates 3 Muta Mana Base[/deck]
Game 1 - Rakdos Aggro 1-2
No play mistakes that stick out. Mogis is good, hard to chump block once he's activated when you keep having to sack your elemental. Hard to keep him from activating when Exava and 37 Rakdos Cacklers come out. "You shouldn't be getting to a point where he has enough mana to cast creatures to activate Mogis"
yeah I know but I can't burn his face when I have to burn cacklers and spike jesters. It was like I was one man fighting an army of juggalos. WTF kind of name is "Spike Jester"? Go back to the plane where they have a Dark Carnival.
Game 2 - Esper 1-2
Toil and Trouble really shined hear, each loss I got my opponent down to lethal range and had to play the "is it a negate or not" game. Game three I ran into nine counter spells. Nine. 342 points of burn were countered...about 342.
Game 3 - B/W 1-2
Main deck whip on curve...scooooooop
Game 4 - Bullshit Hidden Strings deck. I won. Then my ecig battery died.
Now I'm eating Ramen and only had enough liquor left to eek out an infinitesimal buzz.
Zem was absolutely right about the 3 gate vs 2 Temple of Malice. The mana base is a lot more comfortable.

Stuck between 2 lists for GP Phoenix:
[deck]4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Young Pyromancer
3 Chain to the Rocks
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix
3 Boros Guildgate
9 Mountain
3 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry

Sideboard
2 Assemble the Legion
1 Chain to the Rocks
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Peak Eruption
2 Spark Trooper
3 Viashino Firstblade
1 Wear//Tear
[/deck]
Or the current Z List:
[deck]lands
9 Mountain
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
1 Boros Guildgate
3 Mutavault
1 Temple of Silence
1 Temple of Abandon
Creatures

Other

Burns

3 Shock

4 Lightning Strike
Sideboard
3 Mizzium Mortars
3 Toil/Trouble
3 Peak Eruption
1 Wear/Tear
n1 Chained to the Rocks
2 Spark Trooper
2 Assemble the Legion[/deck]
Jammed games with the new list and felt like the one I took to the GPT here just with a different plan of attack. Tested against U/w Devo, MBC, and Esper.
the extra scry helps and Toil side of Toil/Trouble managed to let me beat MBC after multiple hand disruptions.
Esper game 1 is cake but the sideboard plan is an issue. My brother brings in more counters, hand disruption and creatures. Only losses were to him getting a majority of his sideboard. It was about even and I never drew a sideboard card against him besides one toil//trouble in a match I was already losing. Can't beat triple Hand Discard with double counters to back up anything you can play.
Kind of stuck. Really. I like the extra scry and Toil//Trouble but Viashino and familiarity is calling me.

Fuck me, what was that guy listening to? Absolutely awful wubsteppy. As all Australians, I'm sure Zem was listening to ACDC Men At Work in his muscle wolf shirt and took a nonchalant swig from a bottle his beard full of
whiskey as a subtle expression of satisfaction with his preamble to coitus to celebrate his victory.
I absolutely loved the video, just the commentary about Zem being too damn nice was hilarious.
@NBW: While the nature of this game does reward ingenuity and quick adaptation to subtle change, we often dismiss familiarity. The situations you're describing don't sound so out there that others won't take the same tack or get the same luck as your playtest group did, I'd stick with Plan A.
