I tend to agree Kait. Keranos has a sweet ability, and I am sure there are games where playing him turn 5 means you win turn 6 or 7. But, I think screwing with the mana base which is already a little finicky (to me anyway) to play a 5 drop who does nothing on the turn he is played is not where you w...

I am not as expertly as some of these guys, but I have been testing one Chandra main the last few days and I have been liking it quite a bit. So, that is what I would run in the 4th YP spot if I were in your situation.

I haven't played in any big events and mostly play online, but I am pretty sure you guys are wrong about having fun. I am fairly certain you are supposed to be angry/miserable and a complete douchebag at all times.

Most aren't playing SFD anymore, but I still do out of my sb. That may be wrong, but I find he is good in a lot of matchups and I like the card.

Sacramento sucks imho. I grew up in So Cal, live in Vegas, and went to school in Sacramento. Sacramento is by far the worst place I have ever lived. Some of the surrounding areas are ok I suppose, but I don't miss Sac at all.

You flying? The drive to Phoenix from SoCal > 4 hours. The drive from Vegas to Phoenix is about 4 hours, and So Cal a bit further (I grew up in Riverside btw). Edit: I just mapquested it because I was curious, and it does seem like some areas of So Cal would be a 4 hour drive, my bad yo. I stand cor...

I hadn't before, but I just checked the box. Maybe that is what was going on. I didn't think that would have mattered because I leave the dtr page up while I do other stuff without closing the window. After I am away awhile and come back, I have to re-log.

Thanks Kaitscralt, it's not a huge deal. I know it happens sometimes, so I am just being more careful to make sure I am logged in before posting. It does make me show up as a guest much of the time though, because if I am just reading posts and not posting myself, I don't bother to re-log in.

I am sure Zem knows better and has played this deck a million more rounds than I have, but I still like FDS better than cackler. I obv just don't bring it in for the mirror. Maybe that puts me at a disadvantage in the mirror, but I like FDS better in most other matchups so that is what I have been s...

I am in Vegas, and our internet is pretty good. I am not actually timed out, I am auto-logged out. I am not sure how long it takes before I am auto-logged out, but it does happen. I am playing on MTGO only, so that is where my testing and playing is being done. I cut shock to 1, searing to 3, and helix to 3 to squeeze in 3 YP. I am considering raising shock count and maybe decreasing searing tho, because shock seems good with YP. I do like having some searing and probably won...

That's pretty close to what I have been playing, just 3 YP, 4 CP, and 4 AZ. 3/4/3 might work too. Like I said, I realize my build may not quite be optimal yet, but I like the creatures for sure. Test it out with both md and let us know what you think. I am on board with somewhere between the 10-12 c...

Purp- I have been happy with my testing of BOTH AZ and YP md. I cut a couple searing blood and a helix, and run 4 AZ and 3 YP (I only run a couple shock, but am messing with the numbers). I am sure my build is not quite optimal yet, but I have been very happy with the extra creature threats and havi...

BrainsickHater - I think it is important to play the deck that you feel it is most powerful, and I understand your concern. For me, I am not trying to play too many burn spells on turn 2 (maybe magma jet) anyway, so I like to drop a guy who pressures the board. Even if you are playing GR monsters or...

Elricity- What do you play instead of FDS if on the draw against Bx? For what it's worth, I have been pretty happy with Fated Conflagration as well. More expensive than mortars, and can't overload it, but it does get most the guys you want to get and the scry 2 is a nice bonus. The Jund Monsters dec...

I have been liking FDS against Bx as well. I am on the many creature plan against that deck at the moment with 4 FDS, 4 Zealot, 4 Phoenix, and 3 (tho may go to 4) YP. Feels better to me than the few (or no) creature plan. Apply early pressure, finish em off with burn.

If he plays d-sphere, once it resolves, he has to choose a target. If he chooses phoenix, you can shock it in response, sending phoenix to your gy. He controls a d-sphere which has no exiled cards, but it does count towards his devotion.

Last night I was testing with 3 YP main along with the 4 zealots and 4 phoenix (playing 1 shock, 3 searing, 3 helix, and 3 chains). I actually really liked the way the deck felt. I may cut one more searing main or the last shock and try a 4th YP. My MBC matchup felt about a ton better and devour fle...

I wonder about Drinker too, and am still not sure if in MBD or BW we want them to add creatures and have threats even though they have removal, or if we want to sb all crits out like Z had previously mentioned so that they have dead cards. I find MBD and BW to be kinda tough, but I have read several...

I was testing against my friend's BUG control last night and would sb in the Firedrinkers. I was able to play him turn one just about every game, and he asked me if I was running more than 4. I explained to him that even MTGO is confused about SFD and FDS, so you can play up to 8.

amcfvieira- I have had similar problems with the mana base, especially last night. I was also considering dropping to 3 helix, as I lost several games with 3 land and 3 helix in hand after many scrys just for a land drop. I also had some trouble hitting a single white mana source several games, so I...

Z, what did you think of the Glaring Spotlights in the sb? Did you decide it was just better to be strong against the decks you are more likely to see? I kinda hate feeling like there is a matchup that is basically unwinnable, but I haven't tried the Spotlights yet.

I also agree. SFD is SO good in the matchups it is good, I don't think I will cut it from the sb. I am not sure how I feel about it against MB or Bw, but seems like *might* be decent. I am also not sure whether I like the all creature or no creature plan for MB, but I will say that I have had a bit ...

Do you find that you need the Firedrinkers? I have played WAY less matches with this deck than you, but so far I have trounced UW control and Esper fairly soundly without the Firedrinkers. What do you think of Firedancers and Mortars in the sb, and cutting the Firedrinkers? What other matchups do yo...

Hey everyone. I too have been loitering about for several days reading everyone's take on this deck. I started messing with it last week and was hoping to not like it that much so that I could avoid buying Mutavaults, but I unfortunately found the deck a ton of fun and even was doing quite well as a...
