The whole set just looks schizophrenic.

Theory with that art is that it was probably slotted into theros somewhere and then just got cut so they just smushed it into MM2

Just looking at the modern masters 2 in relation to Modern masters 1, there is just way more shit that i don't even want to open, regardless of the value of said rare. (yeah draft environment yada yada, i just flat out don't want to open more than half of the rares in the set, even in a casual way.)

MM2 looks like it is trying to push the Modern environment into different directions and give it new toys. It looks like it could be fun in limited, but the cost is too much for the cards that are available.

QR_BBPOST It looks like it could be fun in limited, but the cost is too much for the cards that are available.
Basically my thoughts. If this set had the same MSRP than MM1, it would be perfectly legit, but for wht they are asking for this set, there are definitely a bunch of big cards missing, and too much chaff on the other side

How many people have even seen some of the cards in MM2? I took a multi year break from Magic and then returned with Scars-Innistrad Standard. I have never seen some of the cards from MM2, and I imagine that many people playing or who are interested in Modern have never seen some of them either. I feel like the internet has stifled a lot of the formats since many people play just the cards that they see in deck lists online.

MM2 looks like ass, but a friend of my friend is a stud and printed proxies of the whole set so now there's a MM cube at the store complete with fake foils, multiple copies of every card and shit separated so that we can practice sealed and draft at our leisure.

The downside of all this is that since we can practice, the idiot store owner now scheduled his PPTQ this month as MM2 sealed which is both expensive and awful.

If it was a GPT, I wouldn't care, but as a PPTQ, I'm more then a little annoyed.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Has Mark Rosewater ever said anything insightful? I read his article today about nothing. He managed to turn the sentence "We were experimenting with a mechanic we called Borph where you could play a 2/2 morph for 2 instead of 3, but it had a lot of issues so we didn't print such a set." into an essay.

At a higher level it's changed very little in two years, though there's a few adjustments to suit the current meta at least :)

I can understand not included most/all of the rare or mythic cards that exist in Modern.
I can understand excluding an entire mechanic that is popular in Modern for making this set not tedious to draft.
I can't understand excluding 20+ commons and uncommons that are all between $1-10 that have had 0 non-promo, non-duel deck reprints and are essential cards in the archetypes they're in.

We just needed third reprints of Myr Enforcer, Frogmite, and (fourth reprints of) Tribal Flames. We just couldn't get enough.

Would you rather play a game where more people can play or less people can play?
If the former, Modern Masters 2015 is kind of a big deal because it was designed and released as a set to draft but also make it so players have easier access to Modern-legal cards. But then fails to do so on several levels.
If the latter, suck my dick I have 4 foil Force of Will, you cannot play the game at the level I do in my swimming pool of foil staples and should choke to death on your non-foil, mass produced trash.

On the real, every time I look at the MM2015 spoiler I find more and new cards missing that are fundamental in the Modern format and I think that sucks because paying $10 for garbage from Fifth Dawn is the absolute nut low. By all means go back to commenting on Zem's number of Innocent Blood, that talk has me all hot and bothered. I'm absolutely enthralled.

Cole, everytime I hear you brag about your foil force of wills, I feel so bad that you spent four figures to get some such an uninspired art when you could have literally had a fucking awesome looking one for 1/10th of their price
