Don't give me all the credit, LD posted the comic.BlakLanner that was an impressive post. Depression/low self worth, not doing well at mtg, and even a cardboard crack reference. What a true dtr post.

Have you seen my playmat!??
I won it some some shit tournament years ago. Wanna know why I've disregarded every mat I come across since winning it (aside from the 2013 Nicol Bolas Game Day Champion mat)? These reasons:
1) It's hideous. Look at it. It's fucking ugly.
2) Nobody else would dare play on it. Somebody having the same mat as you is just so awkward.
3) It's freakishly small. FFS, it's only 2/3 the size of a normal mat! And sometimes smaller than that compared to SCG mats!. It's pretty easy to roll up and I hate carrying extra shit around at tournaments.
4) I don't care if it gets dirty. Shit, I've spilled beer, drugs, and bodily fluids on it and you'll never notice (because it's hideously dark!)
5) It's me. Warts and all.
So of-fucking-course, I want the Toronto mat. Pretty please. With a fucking cherry on top. Get me that mat.
Which one were you after? The ugly dragon one or the ugly goblin one?

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

Play a cheap archetype. Not a cheap deck. There is a difference. By that criteria, play R/g Command. LP posted a decklist somewhere in the Standard thread that I like a lot. Or just play Dang's list. Go play; no pressure. Sell everything else. Use that cheap ass deck for the rest of the season. Enter GP Toronto, play with no expectations, and have some goddamn fun. Play side events if you scrump out. Make it an experience.
Then send me the mat(s)!

If you don't enjoy playing, you shouldn't play as you'll likely just ruin the play experience for all parties involved.
I still have problems differentiating expectations from goals, but I have an even enough temperament and enough understanding that it doesn't cause any real problems aside from occasional erratic play.
Let it be known though that expectations and goals are very different things.
A goal is something to strive for that you achieve through time, work, and effort.
An expectation is something you think you deserve and gives you minimal satisfaction when you fulfill it but leaves you hollow when you fall short. Expectations are almost purely negative and largely lead to disappointment.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

[emphasis mine]I have always believed that my problems were for me to bear alone, not to load onto other people who have their own issues with which they must deal. I just have finally run out of sources from which to draw strength and have begun to truly fall apart.
As plainly as possible, fuck that. You have friends here who are willing to listen. Make use of that. Write out what you're going through. You're not burdening us with anything. Believe me, some of us have been trapped in that darkness before. We made our way out, and we're willing to help you get out too.

Why don't you like any decks in ModernThere are no decks I enjoy in modern, and the disparity in power level between the established decks and homebrews makes it pointless. Modern is solved and there really isn't room to explore. I'm not complaining, just trying to be rational.
I think at this point it makes sense to walk away from competitive. It was a long time coming.
Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

I saw two people playing RUG with Thassa, Prognostic Sphinx, Savage Knuckleblade, Caryatid, Courser. They both admitted to not having played for a while. One 12 year old had already won two Gameday events with BR Dragon Control, and he eventually went 2-2 here. There was an Abzan Aggro player, and a Jeskai Aggro player. Atarka Red won the whole thing by being faster than anything else could contain.
I faced one of the Rug decks and lost to it . I then got paired with a homebrew UG that I smashed through. Then on to Abzan Aggro, which I won to put me in 5th place and assured a top 8. I drew with the Jeskai Aggro guy to put us both in top 8.

Was gonna play second gameday with some tweaks to big red...then was given Queer Porn FilM Fest tickets for birthday by the wife and instead spent my day hanging out with indie & queerion porn performers and apparently after a couple drinks financing a new production studio. Stoya is hilarious when drinking. look at me namedropping like im LP...
