Sword of Body and Mind goes in so many different decks; and it keeps you open to see what else is coming your way.

Wurmcoil Engine is just unbeatable against some decks, and is powerful in any midrange/control strategy. Also keeps color options open.

Time Walk is Time Walk, but I never like committing to Blue early, because its often the most overdrafted color.

Necropotence is the spicy pick; forcing Mono-B or heavy Black is always fun and can lead to degenerate things.

It's close. The deck is kind of messy, if he had some better Walkers I would say Time Walk is obvious. I still think the Tezz's make Time Walk too good to pass, but the big artifacts are tempting

Just out of curiosity, imopen seemed to be debating between Time Walk and Balance, but no one else has even mentioned Balance as a possibility. Is it even close, or are Wurmcoil and Sword just better?

I'm not as huge a Balance fan as some, although it's objectively the strongest card besides Time Walk so I get it

The deck is trying to be an artifact deck but is missing some of the best pieces so far (Tinker, Time Vault), so to me it's Time Walk or a big brown fatty

This is actually a screenshot from an LSV video, btw. I think balance is insane in this deck because he already has 4 mana rocks, 2 planeswalkers, and a minor reanimator theme.

For the record, he took the time walk, but he debated taking balance till this exact moment.

One thing that I want to discuss is the power that Garruk could bring to a deck like this. Adding another planeswalker seems great, especially if that Balance wheels.
