I need to stress that Tajic does not improve any of the big three matchups (mono U, B.s. devotion and control) in any way that I would dare call significant! It's a fun card I like playing with and he has moments when he shines, but I might have love goggles on. He is however fun against any aggro, including hexproof, and a wild card in midrange.
I like assemble and I know biddingmaster has been running it again. But I can't think of any matchup I'd play it besides Bx devotion. So on their own merits Tajic and assemble would never Ben in the same matchup for me if you are drooling over the battalion trigger... trust me. If I thought we could trigger that baby any way that is reliable, I'd be running Firemane Avenger
I don't get what you are talking about.... I've only ever played rw
burn and nothing else since I started paying magic 5 months ago.... It's a beautiful deck with, what is in my opinion, the most interesting interactions.

@ChrisMachado - We dun like your "kind" 'round 'ere. You best be movin' long before some trouble finds it your way.
Messing with you man. I've found that Assemble the Legion is best against Bx Devotion and it falls into the category of "must answer or die". Outside of enchantment removal (Bw or Bg variants only), the only consistent out I've seen for a black deck is to draw running gray merchants when they have a amount of devotion already. I like to keep 2 and a mutavault to go up to 24 land so I can more consistently hit 5 mana in time to play it. Even though Assemble is only good against Bx, the match up is common enough for me to dedicate 3 slots to it.
@HK1997 - Fuck man I love Fireman Avenger. A single battalion proc off her completely swings a game. I've had a few games in INN-RTR where I was able to trigger her multiple times and my opponents lost their entire board and advantage.
Wizards, why didn't you give her haste? She would have been a $10 card if she had it.
For the current standard, I prefer to play burn. It took me awhile to learn how to play it, but I like that it's so efficient. It has just enough power to win a game and no more. It's also like PyroWhite in that it can flip back and forth between aggro and control as I need. That flexibility alone has won me a lot of matches.

I love Firemane Avenger, I actually built a for fun Boros aggro just to be able to run her. I was curious about the Tijac though, you think it'll be the next Viashino Firstblade? Well, I'm the exception, but the 3 major match up's are already in our favor, aren't they?

I don't think so. Tajic is so far still just a fun card for me. I can take it or leave it. But since hexproof won last week's scg, I expect I could keep running it until that hype dies off again. Viashino was miles better than Tajic when we ran it. Not the same league. Not even the same sport
Don't know how favored we are in those matchups. You'd have to ask someone who can evaluate that better than me. I'm very one-sided in my observations.

The mindsparker tech only works against good Ux Devotion players though (like Sam or Reid and their ilk), they don't all turn unto MoW control deck with Jace, Counters (negate, dispel, dissolve), Bounce, Removals and Mind Control.
If I learnt anything from reading this board, lots of bad Ux Devo players dominate FNM so its just a cake walk.
That said IMO - if MoW makes up a huge part of the metagame (which it should because its one of the best decks imo) just run dancers since they make Ux Devo a bye, sadly they ruin the SB and are weak vs B based decks (like Jund).

Went 5-2 at the IQ losing both times to Mono Blue, which is very heavily represented where I'm on vacation for some reason.
I'm considering some number of Searing Bloods/Satyr Firedancer in the 75.
Also I am dissapointed in myself for wasting my spice slot on Harness by Force.
Decks to beat tomorrow: Jund, U dev, B dev, UW Control

I think it already HAS gotten out of hand. Mtgtop8.com has it trending at 17%over the past 2 weeks and mtggoldish at 14%. Jund still at a solid 3rd place... hmmm what card pisses off both Jund and mono U?
@LP: cards in their side usually are:
[Deck]
Sideboard:
Gainsay 2-4
Dissolve 1-3
Negate 1-2
Dispel 1-2
Domestication 2
Jace Memory Adept 0-2
Annul 0-2
Cyclonic Rift 1
[/deck]
They SHOULD be boarding out 2x bident and 4x thassa and probably 4x cloudfins. At least that's what I would do. The toughest ones bring in 9 or more SB cards.

So this list got 14th place at SCG Worcester -
[deck]
Creatures (8)
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Young Pyromancer
Lands (22)
7 Mountain
1 Boros Guildgate
1 Mana Confluence
3 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry
2 Temple of Malice
4 Temple of Triumph
Spells (30)
3 Chained to the Rocks
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix
1 Mizzium Mortars
Sideboard
2 Spark Trooper
1 Banishing Light
2 Nyx-Fleece Ram
4 Satyr Firedancer
1 Searing Blood
2 Wear
1 Act of Treason
2 Toil
[/deck]
Cutting a land at the expense of adding a lone Mizzium Mortars doesn't seem like a good trade off to me. I'm also not sure what he takes out for the Firedancer since he is on the YP$ plan. Probably Phoenix? That's what I'd do. I think his plan is to
just go into Control-mode with 'dancers and 'mancers, sheeps and spells (oh my!). Also, it appears he's on the YOLO plan* with the Trooper (cue Iron Maiden ) when he wants to race. Considering that the Top 8 is infested with Blue and Black Devotion decks, this deck doesn't seem like a bad choice. Though, I'd definitely rock the 23rd land.
*MDU called dat shit first!

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

1 seems fine, especially for those on the Reckoner plan. Cuz, y'know, Domestication...I'm curious about that actually. Do you (and others) feel it's appropriate to board in Wear//Tear against monoblue to hit Hall of Triumph and BIdent of Thassa? I've been bringing in 1 since it feels narrow but the cards it hits can be very relevant.Wear that shit out.

This is what I'm using right now and well, has been working for me so far, on modo:
[deck]Boros Burn[/deck]
Lots of mono blue devotion and esper control all of a sudden, or at least is what I've been facing for the last couple days. Not nearly as difficult to play as the Shouta's list, I guess that's why it has been doing good for me.
Ps: I'm gonna figure out how to properly post a deck list, then I'll edit it to fix it.
Edit: Yay, made it pretty

Chris, just make a list like this:
Creatures (*type amount)
- list the creatures and quantities
Spells (*amount of spells)
-list spells and quantities
Lands (*amount of lands)
-list lands and quantities
Sideboard (15)
- list cards and quantities
Just be sure to put a space in between each category. The deck tag will take care of the rest.

Another thing that has been a problem lately is Fiendslayer Paladin, I hate that card. So Satyr and Chained helps me deal with him and his lifelink.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but here it is: For me, my life total matter against blue devotion, because once they get that Thassa down, is a short race. Yeah, we can control their devotion numbers, but it only gets me so far, so those extra few points of damage I'd take from the Eidolon, I'd rather avoid. The Pyromancer gets me out of a lot of bad situations in general and, even though I miss Ash Zealot, I'm not ready to give away the slot on my deck. Also, Satyr Firedancer gives me aDoesn't EIdolon do some work against blue? Shortening the game against a deck that needs to drop a 4-drop to win seems ok. Obviously Firedancer is good. 2/3/3 EoGR/SFD/YP?
Anger?
sort of card advantage and tempo on the race, since while it is out I don't have to control the board, I can just send to the face and let 'em deal with it. Overall I think is a easier card to use and well, I'm far from being a pro. I've also been facing a lot of aggro lately, from Boss Sligh deck to Jund Monsters, Blue Devotion, White Weenies, so on so forth. Yes, I do understand than counting on creatures against Jund has consequencer, but hey, if they want to kill my Satyr, good for them, I'll gladly keep my Young Pyromancer. Against blue control, if that's what you meant, just bring in the Firedrinker Satyr and [card]Toil // Trouble[/card] and will make things a lot easier. I also think Anger of the Gods can be good, I just don't see a reason to use, while running Young Pyromancer and [card]Chandra's Phoenix[/card], it kinda defeats the
purpose of it.
My list is not a professional list, is not a list someone would ever take to a tournament, but for sure is a lot easier to use, as people like me are still learning "How to Burn" (really should come with a manual), that's why I posted. Is far, far from being excellent, maybe good or descent at most, but it is doing the job fine for me
