Khaos has the right of it. As for Burn/tokens/gobos, I'd say Burn is a meta choice, Goblins is tier 2, but Tokens is actually a good deck that can be built to beat whatever you want.I don't play the format enough to discuss it without talking out my ass, the the results speak for themselves. 3 top 8s in the last GP, won the last pro tour.
That's better than burn, bw tokens or goblins, which are the only modern decks I have on hand. I'm not willing to buy bobs / goyfs / other fetches right now, so it makes sense for me.
Still, McLaren's deck is pretty and I know he and Ari Lax think it's the best deck in format though I'm not sure if I'd go THAT far.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Was playing in a Modern event this past Tuesday and Ari was there. He rail birded my match against his friend (who was playing Storm - I was on UR Delver). Ari was telling us Jund had a lot of good matchups, and it sounded like he liked that deck a lot too.Khaos has the right of it. I was a groomsman at a wedding this weekend so I couldn't make States, and for my troubles I was met with the strongest case of hay fever I've ever had. We actually had to leave the reception early and my wife had to drive the 2-hour trek home (she hardly ever drives when I'm with her). It felt like the worst hangover ever when I woke up the following morning and I actually stayed in bed until 2 PM because I literally could not get up out of my bed. It was terrible. It's convinced me to start doing allergy therapy, so at least something good will come of it.
I'll be attending Game Day this Sunday at my LGS. I'll be on GR Monsters because I just can't put the deck down. My meta is very midrange heavy which makes me uncomfortable piloting Burn there and GR Monsters beats all the other midrange decks easily except for GW midrange which is much more difficult but only played by one person.

I know that feeling all too well, Valdarith. I am missing this weekend's Open and Game Day because my sister is getting married. Such disappointment. I might make the TCGPlayer event on Sunday if I am lucky.
Monsters is still a very viable list. The two decks I play (Burn, UWR Control) have a lot of trouble with it. Are you straight GR or are you going Jund for better kill spells?

It's a poker term that references people that watch games "from the rail" in lieu of participating (or in the case of Magic, between matches).

I wasn't actually upset about missing States, only the hay fever part.I know that feeling all too well, Valdarith. I am missing this weekend's Open and Game Day because my sister is getting married. Such disappointment. I might make the TCGPlayer event on Sunday if I am lucky.

I've played GR and Jund but I prefer the GR list for a few reasons:
1) Less damage from shocklands makes you less susceptible to aggressive decks (particularly Burn).
2) Consistency. The black splash
may be "free" and offer a more flexible sideboard but every time I've played GR it just felt faster.
3) This is more of a personal issue, but I found myself diluting the deck too much postboard with all the options Jund gives you. It turned into Jund Midrange a lot of the time and I don't like playing that kind of deck with this particular configuration (four Domri and four Elvish Mystic in the 75 is really offputting to this kind of postboard strategy IMO).
