Whatever you want to tell yourself. Obviously you play what you're able to play, but if you can be in UB you should be in UB; it is the best archetype.Wrong. There is no best archetype in sealed, unless "play the colors with your best coherent strategy" is an archetype.
RW heroic is really good in sealed sometimes. UG is really good in sealed sometimes. UB is really good in sealed sometimes.
It all depends on the direction your pool leads you.

I'm not meaning to talk shit, but... I don't see why anyone would think that would be a good idea. I feel like its not a burn card, because all the spells in the deck cost 3 or less other like 4 warleaders helix. I took one look at it and figured I'd get locked out, never. Obvious now I guess. I just wonder if there was some thought about it.Burn player on SCG live stream is playing four copies Eidolon of the Great Revel mainboard

In journey/born/theros sealed you want to be W/x, white has fantastic commons in all three sets, some of the best heroic dudes and some of the best things to target them with. Plus decent removal.
thanks to nbw for the sig.

W/x Heroic is sweet, the Heroic flying creatures are all really good, and the green Heroic groundpounders are also pretty good. On top of being good creatures, they're also commons. I like UG for similar reasons. The unblockable common guys are really good. If you have a few Vaporkins, Agent of Horizons, and one or two other flying dudes, you have a deck.
UB is okay if you get a shitload of removal but is ass-tier if you don't. The countermagic is all pretty bad, and with the exception of a few removal spells (most of which are splashable) the rest of the playable creature base is meh. You probably play black if you get Abhorrent Overlord and removal, but the common and uncommon win conditions aren't there.

Just watched Greg Smith on SCG stream piloting Imperial Painter vs Death and Taxes. Seeing a game three Chandra, Pyromaster was awesome. Turns out that card is good against x/1s.

A) they remove it instantly and take 2 damage
or
nB) you get a couple hits in and then they remove it, making it a super cost efficient
The problem is that vs a creature light deck like burn the opponent will most likely have instant speed removal at the ready, making situation B very unlikely to occur. I agree that burn is not the place for him. Oh yeah and he killed himself with the Eidolon in game three...

Eidolon belongs in a deck with a decent amount of creatures, a lot of mana sinks, and some amount of big spells. Think Figure of Destiny, Flame Javelin, Grim Lavamancer, Koth, Hellspark Elemental...

Sup guys. Catching up on this thread now... it's been awhile.
I ran into a quirky situation yesterday while drafting (ended up splitting for 1st/2nd place btw).
My [card:11sqd2q2]Crystalline Nautilus[/card:11sqd2q2] is on the field.
Opponent casts [card:11sqd2q2]Fall of the Hammer[/card:11sqd2q2] naming his d00d and my Nautilus as targets.
What happens to my Nautilus I bounce his d00d (with [card:11sqd2q2]Hubris[/card:11sqd2q2], for example)? I know there's a state-based check when attempting to resolve the spell on the stack, so the spell definitely won't resolve - but was the Nautilus targeted? I got two separate rulings with opposite outcomes yesterday.
What happens if I respond to [card:11sqd2q2]Fall of the Hammer[/card:11sqd2q2] with countermagic? Does the Nautilus' target clause force me to sacrifice it when its declared as a target (of an unresolved spell), or only when a spell successfully resolves
targeting the Nautilus?
The way we think it should go (Opponent's turn):
[list:11sqd2q2]Fall of the Hammer goes on the stack.
Nautilus trigger goes on the stack
Bounce or countermagic goes on the stack
Bounce or countermagic resolves
Nautilus trigger resolves (bye friend )
Fall of the Hammer fails to resolve, either because it's counterspelled or invalid target fizzles[/list:u:11sqd2q2]
HOWEVER, this ruling also occurred (Opponent's turn):
[list:11sqd2q2]Fall of the Hammer goes on the stack
Nautilus trigger goes on the stack
Bounce goes on the stack
Bounce resolves
Fall of the Hammer no longer has a legal target, therefore secondary target is invalid and cannot be declared. The Nautilus trigger mysteriously vanishes because it's the product of an illegally targeted spell.[/list:u:11sqd2q2]
#2 probably happened because I have a pretty face. Any input?

The first is correct. You will lose the Nautilus and the spell is countered as there are no legal targets. Once a permanent with the "phantasmal" rule gets targeted, there is no saving it.

Pulled that trick in a draft. Then he died to a glimpse of the sun god.
battlefield thaumaturgist is pretty baller in limited, especially in blue white heroic. Launch the fleet with 6 guys for a [mana]W[/mana], nice, especially when you hit 4 heroic dudes.

drafting Journey/BNG/Theros for the first time tonight, any tips/archetypes to watch out for? I'm a decent drafter (i usually do fairly well where i play but the people there are generally terrible so i doubt i'm actually any good. i just know how to play and no one ever plays red, so i get to play OP red decks half the time)

Force heroic. Overvalue the 1 drop heroic guys, bears with abilities, and strive cards in the journey pack, and then go from there. If this goes well and something super gay happens where you open up a bunch of bomb red cards and fall of the hammer in the same pack, take fall of the hammer. I took Akroan conscriptor passing fall and fellhide spiritbinder, and then registered a deck with 15 lands that wanted 1 more heroic enabler and a removal spell. Went 3-0 and won a couple games with conscriptor but you want like, 2/3 fours and 1 5 preferably and I already had a curve topper in flurry of the horns.
If you don't want to force an archetype, I'd probably try aiming for any 2 of the bant colors since they position you in the most consistently open aggressive decks. Of note, in the 2 drafts I've done, looking at all the archetypes played, RG aggro/midrange and Rw/Wr heroic went a combined 5-1 amongst 4 different pilots.

Surprisingly. I thought it would be terrible, then decided on a whim to force it. Finals was me and my friend one seat down both playing RW heroic with me red based and him white based. I lost my first game of the draft and 6-0'd from there.
Satyr hoplite and the yoked ox heroic guy are pretty fucking good.

It's good against the dredge decks. Milling them for ten might SEEM counter productive, but when the game is going late and you're in control, milling them out is faster than winning with2nd place UW player played Jace, Memory Adept in his main board (deck? There has just been a lack of activity from the clan in general which started with Redthirst, Khaos, and Zem lowered their activity a bit because of various things which in turn caused others to lower their posting activities in this thread.
Members of the clan still post in other portions of the forum which I thought was one of the big discussions with us posting so much here.
