I think other equipment would be better. Batterskull is kind of a nonbo with your flicker strategy and it's expensive as hell to equip once your germ dies. Hell, I'd rather play Wurmcoil Engine. It'd be hilarious with Kiki-Jiki.

Lulz, I never considered copying a Wurmcoil. I tip my hat to you, sir.

The only advantage is that I have a Batterskull and don't have a Wurmcoil.

Just looked it up, only 7 tickets online. Time to acquire.

I had to read Kiki to make sure you sacrifice the copy and not exile it like with Splinter Twin. When I saw that it does sacrifice, I giggled a little at the prospect so I had to bring it up.

Definitely strong synergy there :)

Kiki enables a lot of strong "when X dies" synergy shenanigans. Yet another reason to run Cage over RIP.

I tested against a guy running a bunch of Blood Artists and sacrifice effects with tokens. I brought in RIP and he couldn't believe why he wasn't getting his triggers and talked about how it was a bug.

He's conditioned by MODO to think everything is a bug. :D

Courser of Kruphix still doesn't work right.

How many Coil do you need? I can jump online and pass em over (I can't see myself selling or using those cards anytime soon....)

[deck]Modern BBBSG v. 1.18[/deck]

Took down an 8-man (Event 6971472).

2-1 Win vs. UR Delver (brought in Ethersworn Canonist, was impressed. Plus a sweet 3-for-1 with Aurelia's Fury targeting a Snapcaster Mage, a V. Clique and a Young Pyromancer)
2-1 Win vs. Affinity (He beat me easily in game 1, didn't have any removal. Stony + Bonfire beatings took him down easily in games 2/3, and a Golem token held off an Etched Champion)
n2-1 Win vs. Storm (Canonist lock + Hide // Seek to get rid of the first Pyromaster Ascension he landed. Hidden before he could get any counters on it)

The deck is too top-heavy. I had multiple Heros of Bladehold in my hand in the Affinity game, but cheap removal saved me. Will work the curve further down in future revisions, or bump the land count up.

Before upping land count say how you like:

Aurelia's Fury
Bonfire of the Damned.

Imo you should decide which one you like more and go for max 3 of those X spells.

Deck is really heavy, so I would suggest Boros Signets to accelerate a little bit if u dont like going green for bops/hierarchs.

How was Kitchen Finks in comparison to Brimaz?

Aurelia's Fury was ok, but I see why you were against it. It's slow and I always had better things to do with my mana. I'm sticking with 3 Bonfire.

Finks in place of Brimaz was OK, either would have performed. I did encounter a game state in the Affinity match where I had 2 Finks on board which wouldn't happen with Brimaz. He has vigilance though, so I could have attacked and defended without exposing myself.

I'm looking at dropping 2 Hero and replacing with 2 Brimaz, keeping the Finks.

I haven't tested Signets yet, but I'd very much like to. Are they better as a 3 or 4-of? I never played with them in RAV block.

More reply spam, excuse the stream of consciousness. I've really liked Slayers's Stronghold in testing, along with the Temples. I'd like to run 2 Stronghold if the mana base can support 2 colorless land. The 2nd would be my 26th land, if I went that route.

I would play 25 lands if u also play signets. colorless lands with signets arent so bad. Imo start with 4 signets and then move from there if u flood with them or think they are bad.

Hero of bladehold is quite good with signets as you can land it turn 3 then.

I'll try out a 25 land, 4 Signet, 4 Hero build to see if it's viable. I'll need to drop a creature to fit the Signets, and Finks is first on the chopping block. That leaves 1 spot, which I'll put Wurmcoil Engine into.

Just popping in to say this thread is great and you do good work
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Eight and a half tails - I hear pro white is good
Inquisitor Exarch - Subpar bear really but etb synergy maybe
Grand Arbiter - silly counterspells?

Heartlash Cinder or Keldon Mauraders - repeatable 5 damage with kiki

Samurai of the Pale Curtain - too cute?

They're ok, not really worth the spot. I've had more success running 3+-drops and removal at 1/2.

It's all good, I think 8.5 tails is a very cool card :)

The beauty of this deck is that it's a fair beatdown deck that has an accidental unfair combo, and all of the pieces interact favorably with each half of the combo so I'm not drawing dead at any point.

So play acceleration to unload those card faster ^^. Removal + acceleration + synergy creatures + possible combo = reception for good deck.
