I've got a friend who loves playing Magic but doesn't want to spend any money on it. He's looking to buy a house, trying to open a business and now he has a kid on the way too so I don't blame him for that decision. But to keep from humiliating him with crushing losses every time he comes over to play, I suggested paper Pauper as an alternative. And then I built this.
[deck]
Creatures
4 Frogmite
4 Carapace Forger
4 Auriok Sunchaser
3 Disciple of the Vault
3 Atog
3 Myr Enforcer
Not Creatures
4 Chromatic Star
4 Galvanic Blast
4 Thoughtcast
3 Springleaf Drum
3 Prophetic Prism
2 Rush of Knowledge
1 Fling
Lands
4 Great Furnace
3 Ancient Den
4 Tree of Tales
3 Vault of Whispers
4 Seat of the Synod
[/deck]
Pretty straightforward pauper metalcraft list. Springleaf Drum, Prism and Chromatic Star do a lot of work to fix colors, but I'm still playing with the land
configuration. Win by Auriok Sunchaser going over the top, Flinging an Atog with a fat ass, and/or ground assaults from 4/4 Carapace Forgers and Myr Enforcers (that were potentially free to cast, and make Rush of Knowledge straight gas). Disciple of the Vault is extra reach for when you crack the Stars and let the Atog binge eat in preparation for a fastball special.
I have no sideboard because everyone I play with is so bad at building Pauper decks I haven't needed one. But in the future I may have need of something like Spell Pierce to fend off the likes of Dust to Dust.

I've been testing a revised list narrowed down to Grixis colors and I feel like it runs a little smoother. I tried a RUG build with Carapace Forger over Disciple, but with the amount of Artifact hate available to... well, everyone in every color... the extra threat he represents is more useful to me.

Artful Dodge is a flex slot. Sometimes it's Welding Jar or Disentomb. It depends on what I feel like.

It's an artifact is pretty much all the logic. It's next on the chopping block.
Without researching some options, I'm inclined to look into some combination of Haunted Fengraf and/or Halimar Depths.
EDIT: Lonely Sandbar/Forgotten Cave/Barren Moor. Because I have plenty of access to mana, and some filtering would be nice to have.

Updated list:
[deck]Grixis Affinity[/deck]
Bullet points:
- Grixis Colors make for an interesting affinity build. Disciple of the Vault effectively extends Atog's reach by 150% and has synergy with my color fixing. Also with Reconstruction, which sometimes replaces Artful Dodge, depending on how I feel.
- I want to revisit the RUG build eventually. Carapace Forger aside, Green has some options that are interesting to me. Jury is out on whether or not they are worth losing Disciple for. Or, alternately, if I can rely on
color fixers to give me Black to cast Disciple in a RUG mana base.
