I've been lurking for about a year. Haven't really committed to the community because about the same time I joined the forum I started planning my wedding. Which happened last Sunday. So I've been cold turkey with Magic since about March, because it was either afford the wedding my wife wanted or look at Magic cards and be compelled to spend all my money on them.

I have been a representing redbro since Ice Age.

Last I checked, this site and MTGS were gold mines of resources. But I think I want to move completely over to this site because while I was gone, MTGS apparently became... I think the politically correct term is "not helpful anymore".

I'm new to Standard and competitive play, strictly speaking. I only got heavily involved last October when I giant cardboard cutout of Jace imposed itself upon my local Wal-Mart. Prior to that I was just dicking around at the kitchen table.

Last season I played Rakis. This season I started out on Mythic Midrange, but shelved it because I don't feel like it's in the right place just yet... also because nobody developing RBW was getting along, much less helping. I moved to Devotion Red, and from there to PyroRed, and now I'm on PyroWhite. Or Walter White. Or Heisenburn. Or whatever the hell we're calling it now.

In Modern I play Affinity, because I'm a dick.

And speaking as a guy who's into martial arts ("into" as in "digs", not "is proficient with"), there's a big difference between training for your health/self-defense and training to win tournaments. One teaches you second place means you lost, the other teaches you second place means you're dead. Tournament schools will shove you through a black belt in about a year or two. If you're just doing it for your health, they won't even accept you. You won't compete so you won't win them any money. And they routinely shit out classes full of little fuckers with the same attitude. Kids like this fucking disgust me.
