I didn't feel like checking and I remember Thrillo pretty much not agreeing with the FoS guys on like anything.

this is a false assumption. i loudly disagreed with the one important card i disagreed on (stormbreath dragon), and got into an argument about how i wasn't disagreeing on the assessment of watchwolf (that it is just fine or whatever) tied to the previous loud argument about dragon.
i started out for ashiok, had my favor tempered when i realized it only affected the cards it exiled and that jace milled for 10, and then regained that favor as we got closer to release because of parallels with drownyard.

+0 if he were 3cc for middle ability and i think -2 at 2cc... -1 at 2cc reads "GG: put 3 2/2s into play" at worst and jace beleren-grindy gradual card advantage engine at best.

that mono red deck actually looks good and like someone put a modicum of thought behind it, which is more than i can say for most of the rest of the top 8.

hear that fos members i'm publicly complimenting a mono-red deck.

though i would absolutely play a rubblebelt makka over that single gore-house chainwalker. if you're going to mise something in your deck overloaded with 2-drops, you may as well mise a card that will do something.

also i'd like to point out how absolutely miserable the 1-drops in red are compared with the 2-drops in every color including red. owen turtenwald's red aggro deck is overloaded with 1-drops, but then do a 1-to-1 with any of the 2-drops in the other red deck and it's like why would you ever play those 1-drops.

97% of the time following the release of a new set, people reference the results of SCG open events as it is usually the largest, most robust data set available from a single event in that sort window in which the set has been legal during. as a result, it is also usually understood than when discussing outcomes of a large event after a new set's release, it can be assumed that the data in question comes from a star city event.
