It's unfortunate that the Simic aren't merging creatures with Monkeys or we could get a real reprint of a casual favorite.

Doubly unfortunate because x/3 is pretty important in Standard/RTR-inclusive limited (no assurance that keeps with Gatecrash), so it's not even really like a removal spell since you'll still probably wind up trading with the Lizard more often than not.

Yeah, why didn't they just reprint Pongify?

This does have some pretty nifty interactions with Evolve, however.

Pongify has Green Monkey tokens and the Simic are all about Lizard and scaly hybrids this time around (Fish Mutant, Lizard Drake, Human Ooze)

in limited it'd be a nice combat trick or removal spell.

it's still bomb removal in limited and a trick if necessary. turn those gatevines into 3/3 blockers
