That might just be the more consensual move in the game's history, I believe there will be a shortage of Internet drama over this since everyone and their dog agrees of the net positive for those changes.

Well done Wizards, etc...

Whiners gonna whine. I've already seen people cry about the costs of Standard. You guessed where.

They should go back to releasing core sets periodically i.e. 5th-10th edition.

Seems fine, but I'll miss drafting three unique packs.

I think the price of standard is yet to be seen, though. I think you can make logical arguments for it both going up and down, so we'll have to wait and see.

This news would be worse if the third set wasn't always such shit
Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

This news would be worse if the third set wasn't always such shit with one or two hidden powerhouses that end up being a fortune due to the set being opened less.

This may well happen with the second set now though, unless we're going to a 2-2-1 draft structure or something. That would be nice, actually.

I believe the 2nd set will have the same scarcity compared to the 1st one than currently. Its just that before you moved on to the third set, but now you press the reset button and start again.

The first set in the block was always relatively unaffected by the third set's release since that only accounted for 1/6th of the first set's draft openings. The second set would have doubled its draft openings during the third-set season. That's not going to happen anymore. The second set should now closely resemble the third set as far as opening numbers go, while the first will be much closer to the same.

Unless we open 2 packs of the second set instead of one.

Oh yes, you are right, I forgot to factor second set openings on the third one.

Yeah. That would balance prices better, but might make for a worse limited environment. Maybe they'll change set sizes to account for that or something, who knows.
