Are Fetch Lands Really Necessary?

I'm finishing up a Rw Burn deck, and I was wondering if I really needed the fetch lands if I wanted to make it Rwb. If I have enough lands in there like
City of Brass and
Mana Confluence, would it still work?

You can build a workable mana base without them, but if you're using cards that require cards in your graveyard (notably the lavaman) or shuffle effects (Brainstorm and Top come to mind, but they're not in the format), you definitely need fetches. You also shouldn't play Searing Blaze without fetches (which is fine, since on the decks against which blaze is good, 3 isn't the important toughness number, and Searing Blood will do).

I wouldn't run a third color without fetches, though. Even with fetches, running extra colors in a burn deck makes your mana base very painful (you want that untapped land every turn), allowing other decks to simply out race you.

You can run a couple of Blazes without fetches. I do online.

I've sideboarded blazes in a fetchless builds. In matches where it's good, it's good at sorcery speed.

They're pretty important for Burn I'd say. There are a lot of decks in the format that don't play fetches though, so if you're really worried about investing in those, you can always buy into Merfolk or Affinity. All of the staples in those decks are pretty much secure purchases, Mox Opals and Aether Vials aren't going down in price.

Anyone think that decks that run say 8 fetchlands will be running more than 8 with the reprints ?

I'll be running at least 10 in my Burn deck.
