Touch underpowered, but interesting. Should see a little constructed play and is a limited bomb.

And when I used to be wow'ed by Ivy Elemental.

Yeah, this and that flash spider might give U/x trouble.

Well, if Ux becomes really popular, this card starts to look really good; unless they're all UB control or something.

Now that I think about it, this is close to an uncounterable Fireball. So, elf-ball rejoice?

It can dodge both Azorius Charm and Detention Sphere, and without Oblivion Ring as well, this might just single-handedly prompt a Supreme Verdict.

That's actually a very good idea. Bravo.

Give that Hydra Flying and another bonus ability and it's probably pretty good.

Cards like that always look good on paper but then nobody plays them.
Could be SB one day.

It's a casual players dream. That's it.

It reminds me of [card]Gaea's Revenge[/card] without a fixed mana cost. It's a hasty green creature with defenses against blue that lacks the necessary 'Trample' to see competitive play.

It does work well with those 'Ordeal' cards though so maybe there's some FNM potential for it at best.

Speaking as the resident kinda-blue player this card is pretty good against me. Not a nightmare as Supreme Verdict is still a thing, but I will probably lose games if this is in your sideboard. Thankfully, it will be pretty easy to misplay this guy, as where the X is when you cast it will be important, but if you do it right it will be difficult to answer this correctly.

Completely different meta and blue-based control wasn't needing hated on because it was already a relative underdog. Don't be surprised if Skylasher finds a niche in the post-rotation card pool.

because blue basted control will be relevant post rotation?
maybe as UB or UR, but UW won't. It loses 3 of its creatures, a dual land, a utility land, and think twice.
Like the best thing this has going for it is it has protection for Azorious Charm and
Detention Sphere.
And UB has doom blade and UR has Mizzium Mortars.

It doesn't block Aetherling and neither does Skylasher.

because they're both terrible and won't see play?

That's like comparing full-carb beer and you because neither are ever inside a woman.

I'm running in my ezuri, renegade leader commander deck. I have a metric ton of mana, but not enough to ramp into (other than multiple ezuri activations), and fighting through counters.

In real formats, maybe as a sideboard? You can get him pretty massive with nykthos, and then he eats a doomblade or gets chained to some rocks. Polukranos is probably better 90% of the time, as is arbor colossus, but sometimes you might want him. I love how "can't be countered" is appearing more frequently as counters are becoming less relevant.

This guy is definitely performing better than I anticipated, but then I did not anticipate mono blue to be a deck.

Got killed by this guy in an EDH game last week. One opponent left and I was going to win on my turn. The only out the guy had was to play a big creature with haste. He was playing blue/green, so... I win, right? Nope.
