You guys shouldn't be looking at this as me wanting to introduce a little chaos or whatever Machiavellian scheme you all think I do; it's actually a positive. Back when he was originally banned, I took it as just another piece of instability in what I had come to think of as the most unstable place I was willing to go on the 'net; that may be just because I myself was pretty fuckin' unstable back then, or maybe that I didn't get the culture, or the very distinct possibility that you were, in fact, the most unstable place around... I think perhaps the latter has a smidgeon of truth to it.
But since then, what's surprised me in the growth of the site is an atmosphere of quick and efficient change; quite the change from MTGS where they let problems fester far too long and resort to masks and bannings to hide their dirty laundry instead of just, you know, doing their laundry. I like to call it an atmosphere of "self-
help"; I just say what's on my mind, and the community, especially Scumbag, comes up with a solution in short order. And these solutions are often simple, elegant, and just what is needed. It's a way of life too personable for MTGS to understand, and to my mind it is no big realization to see how Harkius has felt muzzled there despite them keeping him around. In him, I see a caged bird, and in our maturity here, so different from the groupthink of MTGS, I would like to at least give him the chance to sing.
So yeah, there probably will be drama bombs, there probably will be internet fights (hell, even if he doesn't maek post there probably will be), but I at least have confidence that when they come we have the skills and insight to handle them. We don't need to fear drama here.

I'm sorry, you expected something other than blathering? From me?

I supported the ban and I support the unban. It was a justified time out. We love drama and schemes and raids as much as the next card game forum, but Harkius was making it not fun that week. Anyways, we didn't ban Onar for his Yomako bullshit, so we should unban Harkius. This is not a website for banning people.

I'd agree to unban him today if he adopts the username "Slammu" for a few months. That would show he is able to get past his internet persona issues.

Precisely. We are the website of the
damned banned. To ban them from here is to jettison them into the abyss.

Your thoughts on the Slammu proposal?

The ban was fine, for the reason that we didn't do it because he broke a sacred rule or gathered too many infractions, but because we decided we weren't in the mood for his bullshit anymore and just banned him. It set an early precedent for the site that just because we aren't a nazi forum and have a self-moderated culture, we are still willing to cut out the cancer if need be. Better yet we will do it without warning and even if not everyone agrees (I believe the Summit lasted all of two minutes before Spam pulled the trigger just to return the conversation to something interesting.)
Harkius was taking things a bit too seriously back then. It is in his nature to be an annoying person. But we can always just ban him again, so why not unban him, it's been six months and this place is sort of stagnant right now.

We're approaching our one year anniversary, I think Harkius coming in and out and then back in is a fitting end to the first cycle.

I'm down for that if he goes by Slammu for a bit. That will show all of us that he move past the "annoying Hark" persona and actually try to enjoy himself here.

Your thoughts on the Slammu proposal?
I don't think it matters. It'd surprise me quite a bit if he actually posts here, so if you want to gleefully look back on his old posts with a silly username I guess I'm fairly neutral to how you get your rocks off. I'm not doing this for him; I'm doing this for the entirely selfish reason of allowing myself to think of your guys as something more than scumbags.

Because if it wasn't sarcasm it means that you still see us as scumbags.... which I'm going to call BS on, especially because you talked about how much you loved this site and how mature we were just a few posts above.

I have been saying I want Harkius unbanned for months and have the power to unban him and nobody has told me not to, and I still didn't, because I am a scumbag, worse, I am
a lazy scumbag.

This site was always your rebound girl. But now that the love of your forum life is gone, she's all you've

In classic fashion and to uphold tradition, I will now spamflood about Scralty's avatar.
Sometimes I sit and watch it, and while I know that it will never happen, I kind of hope that each iteration will be the time that girl's bra finally can't take the strain anymore and pops off.

So demure, so uncorrupted when it first starts, then bam, like a first-time lover.
