UR Storm

After the banning of
Seething Song, Storm took a bad hit and pretty much fell out of favor from players. It still is a strong deck IMO though requiring more thought in sequencing your plays.
[deck]UR Storm by Jon Finkel, 9th GP Portland[/deck]
Since we lost a set of rituals, Pyromancer's Ascension is now a necessity for a successful storm deck. The deck is still vulnerable
to grave hate though it's not as bad as when Eggs was still running around.
As it is, the deck is currently under the radar. The biggest problem is adjusting the deck since the list looks very tight as it is. The only flexspots I can see are the Vengeances, Peers, and Ravings. Bolt could be potential MD specially with an online Ascension.
For upcoming cards,
Young Pyromancer seems to be a good candidate.

This is widely considered the perfected list, which is also what I'm playing.
[deck]Creatures:4
4 Goblin Electromancer
Spells:40
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Serum Visions
4 Sleight of Hand
3 Desperate Ravings
4 Desperate Ritual
3 Grapeshot
2 Increasing Vengeance
4 Manamorphose
1 Peer Through Depths
4 Pyretic Ritual
4 Pyromancer Ascension
3 Past in Flames
Lands:16
1 Cascade Bluffs
3 Island
2 Misty Rainforest
1 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Shivan Reef
2 Steam Vents
Sideboard:15
1 Dispel
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Defense Grid
2 Echoing Truth
3 Empty the Warrens
3 Shatterstorm[/deck]
I really love that seething song was banned. Now I need to actually think while playing the deck!

I don't think young pyromancer does enough for this deck. I'd stick to empty the warrens and grapeshot as my win cons.

what about that list makes it "perfected"? Like, where is the list from? (This coming from a player with no Modern experience, I'm legitimately curious as to why I should play that over, say, Finkels)

The only difference there really is the sideboard, and SB's are adjusted depending on your local meta. The only cards that I can say we can't change in the SB are the bolts and the warrens.

I was too lazy to compare the mainboards, but yes I see it

The fact that it got first place on MTGO, and watching finkel's games you know that leyline is not needed and echoing truth is essential.
It is basically finkel's list, with one minor tweak to complete it.

As per James' request, I threw this list together on the fly. Burn at the Stake storm ft.
Young Pyromancer. This isn't the Dega, token-spamming version he was likely expecting me to post, but I thought this one was pretty decent too.
[deck]BoTS[/deck]
I included [cards]Reach Through Mists[/cards] as another splice target for [cards]Desperate Ritual[/cards] but I don't know whether or not it's even worth
it, I'd have to play around with it. It might be correct to just swap them to [cards]Manamorphose[/cards].
Sideboard is Finkle-esque.

I'm leaning towards Manamorphose more just because it's already a free spell with cantrip. Ups your storm, and makes a token with Young Pyromancer out. Also nuts with an online Ascension.
