What are the chances of seeing more manlands anytime soon?
I just had a lightbulb moment. I'm looking through card lists in search of cards to sell (in order to get Mutavaults. must. have. vaults!), and I saw:

Dryad Arbor

Maybe in Theros? There's a future shifted card in Theros, it's a man land, and the creature type Dryad fits the Greek mythology theme.
Shut your whore mouth, because I'm holding out for Grove of the Burnwillows and that ilk.

Although that would make me want to play that stupid Grove of the Burnwillows + Punishing Fire Delver list in Legacy.

I think Nimbus Maze + rest of a new cycle is more likely. Those would work well with shocks. I seriously hope it's something more interesting than Dryad Arbor.

A River of Tears cycle would be fine as long as its done safely.

Also it probably won't be Nimbus Maze since they said they want to tone down mana base consistency. Nimbus Maze would basically just be Hallowed Fountain #4-8.

That land cycle would be nice, but still require thoughtful deck building and encourage more responsible use of basics.

I've been lucky so far with mvault; I caught a set just after they spoiled for ~$11 each and have pulled 2 more so far (still need 2more for the kid). The cards that are hacking me off are necromancer and young pyro--no necro and only 1 yp after opening nearly a whole box. I'm also drowning in ratchet bombs and megaslivers.
I'll send you 4 Young Pyromancers if you want them. Send me your address and they'll go in the mail tomorrow morning.
Matt, you da man! I look forward to the day that our paths cross, sir...good Kansas City steaks and California zinfandel will
figure prominently. BTW there are some burning birds headed your way as of this afternoon!

I finished the bottom border, but then the yellow/orange mixes I was using dried up on me and I haven't quite managed to find the time to mix more paint to do the top parts yet. Although I did do a sweet-ass Vampire Nighthawk the other night because it didn't require any paint mixing at all... Very much akin to this:

I might just send that soon if I don't manage to finish this freaking Cackler in a timely manner.

Cycling lands would be a welcome addition. I would accept them as our new overlords.

PS: I am pretty terrible at the color wheel nonsense still. I think I need to take a few classes on mixing acrylics, cause I can do just about everything short of matching colors with relative ease...

Well, I went through a long list of cards and it looks like I could get a few Mutavaults after all. But it'll cost me my single Wasteland and a bunch of other cards. But it'll be worth it. That Wasteland ain't seeing any play, Legacy events are few and far between, and I'm taking my burn deck to those tournaments anyway.

If y'all are ever in need of extremely clever plays, make sure to remember the "tap Mutavault for [mana]1[/mana], animate it with that mana, sac to Falkenrath Aristocrat for a +1/+1 counter, furiously masturbate" plan.

Well, my relationship is over. I can't say I'm happy at all with the way that things turned out, but I do know it's for the best. For the both of us.

My head is kind of swimming right now with a mixture of anger, sadness, and relief. The last few days while I contemplated things have been numbing, and now that everything is final, I really don't know how I feel. I have a feeling that the next few days will be kind of hazy until it all sinks in.

Why does life have to suck sometimes?

That's a rhetorical question, I suppose.

I doubt I'll be playing much MTG in the meantime until I can wrap my head around all of this. I'm having this sudden realization that my relationship wasn't the only thing going wrong in my life and I have other things to fix. I imagine ham knows exactly how I feel right now.

I'm so fucking glad I got you guys. Seriously. Thanks for being my clanbros. I know it goes without saying that
I've got your support. I couldn't have made a decision like this without some of the input and advice I've already received from ya'll.

Crusade was the SHIT!

Anthem is one of my favorite songs ever.
"The Crusade" was the album I jumped on the wagon with. I heard/saw "Anthem" on TV and immediately thought "Hey, this sounds just like old school Metallica!" I think that "Becoming the Dragon" is my favorite song on it, that fast part without lyrics towards the end is just so great!

"Shogun" is their masterpiece in my opinion, it's a really solid record. "Torn Between..." isn't my ring signal because it's my favorite, is just had the best intro for that. &
quot;Insurrection" is my favorite on it, that part starting with "Ascend to the heavens..." towards the end... :jam:

"In Waves" is great as well, but it's no "Shogun". I haven't really warmed up to the earlier records.

I've only seen them once, after "The Crusade" when they warmed up for Iron Maiden.
I was listening to the Crusade the other day and it's completely steeped with old-school 80's riffs a la Metallica and Motley Crue. Like, it could've come out in 1988 and it would've fit right in. I like to crank "To the Rats" as soon as I leave work.

Shogun is fucking epic. Problem is, I listened to it nonstop for about 2 years and kinda burned myself out on some of it. If I had to pick some of my absolute faves, it's be "Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven" and "Down from the Sky." What's cool is that most of the album
is all about Greek Mythology, so I think Shogun may very well be my soundtrack for Theros Standard.

In Waves too awhile to grow on me because they really simplified the music. It was a huge step in a different direction after Shogun. But then, that's what you have to expect from Trivium, right? When they moved from Ascendancy to Crusade, a lot of people couldn't handle the style change. I say fuck those naysayers. I guess you have to evaluate each Trivium album on its own merits. With that said, I love In Waves. My big three from that album is "In Waves," "Built to Fall," and "Caustic Are The Ties That Bind."

You saw Trivium AND Iron Maiden at the same show? I'm fucking jelly bro. I actually missed them on that tour.

OMG Burning Earth is amazing, seriously 4-of in the board. Just won FNM and beat down Jund 2x, and UWR games 2 and 3 on the back of Burning Earth.

Mutavault was also friggen amazing..

Oh baby,It's a good time to be a red mage!!!

Was running the SCG Mono-Red list posted a few pages back, of course with a few modifications by Zeman :)

Anyone else get to try out some goodies from M14 this weekend?

Red is so awesome in this standard. After playing a fair bit of games against all the top tier decks, I can confidently say that mono red is one of, if not the best deck now.

@Khaos: Hang in there man. I think the old British army saying is handy here: Keep calm and carry on. All the best.

There's definitely a hint of animated lands in M14, Mutavault and Awake the Ancient. Could go the Awake the Ancient way with enchantments animating lands, though, due to Theros being an enchantment set.

About creature types, it isn't a tribal set so while there are a few main creature types for each color, there will be a few odd ones. Dryad really fits the theme.

Centaur Omenreader certainly fits the theme as well.

There was a Mono Red midrange deck that went 4-0 in Standard at the Invi as well. Don't know the exact decklist though I am afraid.

Any thoughts on meta game changes before the Game Day? There seems to be great potential in mono red after M14, and it looks like both Mutavault and Burning Earth will shake up things a bit. So my concern and question is this: If the mono red decks becomes a force to be reckoned with, how will the current tier 1 decks react to this? And what would the red answer to those reactions be, maindeck and sideboard wise? Can the mono red decks be hated out enough so they aren't viable? Or will they settle in the meta in place of/or together with the current Gruul aggro decks as just one of the tier 1 decks? No easy questions, and I haven't got the skills (and time) to even begin figuring this one out. So any thoughts on the matter is appreciated.

PSully's deck as always is very cleverly constructed. I like a lot of the ideas but I would need to play with it a bit before I can endorse it though.

From the coverage, I believe it was:

[deck]Land (25)
21 mountains
4 Mutavault

Creatures (16)
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Hellrider
4 Thundermaw Hellkite

Spells (19)
4 bonfire of the damned
4 burning earth
4 searing spear
4 pillar of flame
3 Ratchet Bomb

Sideboard (15)
2 Chandra, Pyromaster
13 ????????[/deck]

nGruul players will probably make the shift to mono-red. Three colour decks will try to cut to two colours or start playing main deck cards that can kill burning earth (think acidic slime, oblivion ring etc.). UWR will likely revert to UW. My guess is that the top tier decks will be Jund, Junk Rites, U/W flash, and RDW. Tier two decks will be white weenie, mono black control, gw aggro, bant hexproof, naya blitz and both flavors of aristocrats

Thanks Johnny. That Midrange Red Deck is VERY appealing to me personally, i love decks with that sort of card quality (no dip in quality of draw as the game goes on).
