You guys didn't expect Mutavault to demand a higher asking price than originally forecast? Did you guys not play last time it was Standard? The card is nuts.

I'm glad that my swagger is at its absolute maximum right now. I'm still rocking 4 of these. :unibrow: Best part? Got them a few years back for approx. $50.

That's okay I'm pretty sure only a small handful of us here were playing in Morningtide.

Although honestly this is mostly due to how many people quit during Mirrodin.

Was not playing during those times. I wanted to buy 4 right off the bat when these were spoiled, but I had no budget. Think how painful it is to see the price crawl little by little while you wait for your budget. For the record, I only borrowed the
Mutavaults I was playtesting with recently. I opened one from a pack.

I set aside cards worth about $60 of store credit to get 4 'vaults. Today, they are sold out. Fuck. Tcgplayer.com has them at ~$13.

I saw playsets of big Mudes going for 65+ on eBay yesterday, so I bought a bunch off of TCGPlayer for 11 each. I'm considering cleaning out my LGS with my built up store credit, they have a bunch at 12.

That would not be a bad investment, ham. None of the stores around here have them for less than $13.50.

I've been lucky so far with mvault; I caught a set just after they spoiled for ~$11 each and have pulled 2 more so far (still need 2more for the kid). The cards that are hacking me off are necromancer and young pyro--no necro and only 1 yp after opening nearly a whole box. I'm also drowning in ratchet bombs and megaslivers.

Melissa DeTora's latest list has me considering Mono-green.

[deck]

4 Elvish Mystic
3 Dryad Militant
2 Ulvenwald Tracker
4 Scavenging Ooze
4 Strangleroot Geist
4 Witchstalker
3 Predator Ooze
3 Yeva, Nature's Herald
4 Wolfir Silverheart

3 Garruk Relentless
4 Rancor

4 Mutavault
18 Forest
[/deck]
I'd really take Saito's list over her. He definitely knows how to build aggro:

[deck]MonoG Saito[/deck]

nHis SB has interesting things in it (akroma's lolwut?) but his mana base isnt actually TOO bad this time. I'd go up to 20 forests and 3 mutavaults because of ooze but thats been based on testing with the Gruul stompy version.

Ulvenwald is real slow and real not main board material. Garruk is also pretty bad and predator ooze kicks the shit out of witch stalker.

Scavenging ooze isnt also a 4 of. Its really bad in multiples and its not always that necessary to see 1.
Dryad militant is ok? You already have MB GY hate with Scavenging Ooze. You definitely want all 8 mana dorks for T2 plays.

Basically, Saito knows how to beat face

I feel obliged to mention that Mutavault was my MVP tonight and one of the biggest
reasons I took down FNM. Feels good to be winning again. I hope my dry spell is over (touch Redthirst's wood). Dragon's Maze standard was not kind to me like Gatecrash standard was.

I know I was laughing myself (holy fuck Saito put TWENTY THREE land in a list?!!??!) I'm testing Yeva right now in the G/R shell link in my sig if you end up sleeving up some stompy, Kaze.

If we get enough support/popularity for it (I mean it DID place 3rd at a big event, so I can make a Stompy thread in competitive right Alex??? ;D) I'll compile it into a primer.

Am I the only one who thinks the Dorks are awkward in this list? His curve is two drop heavy, and three drop light. I'd rather see Dryad Militant and [

The dorks not only tap for mana, but have this super secret second mode where they actually attack and do damage. ;D

They support the deck's plan in more than one way; it's pretty valuetown.

Johnny, T2 Geist+Rancor is HOUSE. T2 Tusker+Rancor (aka get rancor on the table son and they are fucked. Answering a t1 tapped shockland with 5 power is pretty big game).

T2 Predator Ooze needs to happen as OFTEN as possible. And if you lightsplash red for Domri like me (only if you like beating less with giant growths and/or don't have mutavaults), T2 Domri is the money as well.

Does that deck want some number of Bramblecrush in the board? Or is it too narrow a card?

don't know what I'd board out for bramble crush honestly.

The deck just wants to bash with big creatures and trample over shit. Sometimes i board out some amount of top end to go Fog race mode, sometimes it boards out slow creatures (deadbridge, but with yeva maybe tusker?) for more value PW mode (triumph of ferocity, thragtusk, garruk. Domri in my list)

No idea how why/how he thought to bring in akroma's. Definitely a flex spot, I'd sugges sort of maybe naturalize there because it at least is easier on the curve (if even more narrow).

Yeah I can't think of any situation in which I 'd want to board out threats for Bramble crush. Normally I just bash Planeswalkers with creatures, race enchantments (its too expensive to be killing an enchantmnet at 4 mana anyway), and don't give a shit about pithing needles or trading posts?

I can't tell you whether or not the deck want Bramblecrush in the board, but I can tell you that Bramblecrush is not a narrow card. It is very reactive, which may not be perfect for such a linear, creature-based strategy, but, given that your creatures are often better than your opponent's, I'd say that it's worth considering for the deck's sideboard.

"I has all this mana ramp and no epic spell to ramp into"?

Probably works well in matchups where opponents are trying to play the long game. You could probably throw it out turn five or so against a control deck and it's GG there. Kind of a Domri ult for mono-green.

My usual go-to place for cards still have a bunch of Mutavaults for 13,50€. I know they will either sell out eventually or go up in price, probably both. But I just can't justify dropping the money for them right know, not with the amount of playing I do. So my plan is to use a couple of borrowed ones, win some FNMs/Game Days/PRs, get some price boosters, open up a few foil Archangel of Thune, sell them for credits, and finally buy some Vaults and profit even more. Sound doable, right? :) My only open question right now is: which deck will allow me to achieve my goal faster, KDW or AIR?

Edit: Oh, and in case someone was wondering, that Reverberate suggestion wasn't really serious...

What are the chances of seeing more manlands anytime soon?
I just had a lightbulb moment. I'm looking through card lists in search of cards to sell (in order to get Mutavaults. must. have. vaults!), and I saw:

Dryad Arbor

Maybe in Theros? There's a future shifted card in Theros, it's a man land, and the creature type Dryad fits the Greek mythology theme.
