I was actually thinking that his winning condition right now consists in killing 2 ice mafia players, so we could force him to use his nightkill to to scumhunting purposes, but it just doesn't make sense. Going 5 against 2 and negating Fire mafia's nightkilling ability is probably the stronger play here.

I just "panicked" because I've realized that my vote puts him at L-1, but if we're right he doesn't actually have any fellow scumteam member to drop a quickhammer on him or any interest (I guess) in suiciding, so zem is just right in asking for an explanation I guess.

He could but he declined to. There's no reason not to if he was the doc; that he didn't even try suggests to me that he knows the real doc is out there (if he's scum) or that he's a vt who doesn't want to expose the doc; so that's null at best.

The structure of the game makes it really hard for me to put players in the town pile; scum actively want to hunt scum in this game.

It doesn't seem believable to get the structure that wrong.

Fate can either:
- claim Fire -> we're willing to lynch him;
- claim Ice -> would that give us any less reason to go on?
- claim Doc;
- claim Vanilla Townie.

The last claim is pretty much meaningless, so this lets us face with the lone hypothesis of him claiming Doc.
But, given the fact that he has been scummy during the whole game AND banded with (G_R) AND that he would be appealing to his last resort, would you believe him?

Well, my immediate response was "what could red expect fate to claim that would get him to change his vote?"

We know there's 1 doc and otherwise you can only claim vt. Claiming vt should save you from a lynch because everyone will have to claim it; the structure, I think, is set up that 1 mafia =/= 1 doc; so claiming doc to trade for the real doc after they counter claim seems like a losing proposition.

So I just don't understand the Unvote; to make sense of it I figured that perhaps red didn't know the set up, or didn't know it was open. I'm not sure what to make of his response tbh.

I think the only line where he's anything but town that made a harmless error is if I think he's scum buddies with fate; which I don't. It's plausible he could be making a play for town cred, but I don't think so.

The way he worded his response, before his more substantive explanation gave me pause but now I feel ok.

Then RL gets in the way and Night fall comes before I can explain my reasoning behind the naked vote. Had I foreseen this coming I would have the reasoning in the post where I voted G_R. @rez, am I not town to you? I don't mind any questions or casing of me as it helps town to have more content from manders. Although I am concerned that you are day talking with manders to begin an attack me. Both of you have not clashed or really strongly communicated with each other till now.
