I am seriously gonna have issues not bloodrushing Hound of Griselbrand. I don't know how to play competitive standard with some number of hounds. Oh Hound you will never see modern play, so it was a good run while it lasted.

I do like that, as well. But I'm a bigger fan of Judge's Familiar in blue-splash variants with Wingcrafter.I like it. I also like Wescoe's idea to run Judge's familiar along side Thalia for maximum "fuck yo couch nigga".

Pretty much guarantees you won't get verdict'd until turn six or later, yeah. I just like the extra power and graveyard hate on Dryad Militant a tiny bit more.

Some testing results for ya'll. I was playing both sides of combinations of matchups including junk aristocrats, mono-red, UWR, Human variants(mono and G/W), Jund, and Exava Hydra Jund.
Mono-red was fine against everything struggling the most against jund. Part of this was draws, part of this was scavenging ooze giving jund actual good cards before 4 mana. All the other matches felt more fair and I think the UWR matchup was actively very good for me. Pyreheart wolf was amazing. Chandra's phoenix was very good. Burning earth out of the board is as good as advertised.
The Humans lists where fine against everything but the control strats. If you don't have a pump affect for your weenies, augur of bolas actually just says no to your offense. Bonfire will also ruin your day.
Junk Aristocrats has no bad matchups game one. Deck can win from the ugliest board positions. Boarded games, you do just lose to RIP if you don't
have the abrupt decay. Ooze isn't that big of a deal as Junk just needs the dying triggers more then the gy action. Didn't get much use out of xathrid zombie or archangel of thune, but admittedly, I didn't see them much as I was conservative with tweaking the decklist as it's not an archetype I have a firm grasp of design wise.
Jund was incredibly powerful vs. everything. Scavenging ooze is a stupidly powerful card in the type of games jund is trying to play. Anytime you untapped with ooze in play after bonfire a board of guys, you simultaneously stabilize as you're killing your opponent with your giant fatty.
Exava Jund: Doing powerful things. Not sure if the list is better then Naya midrange decks as your largely doing the same thing, but I think the nut draws are better. Having multiple ways to generate hasty 3/3 beaters turns 2 and 3 is the real strength of the deck. Against the aggro decks, if your mana cooperates, you can beat face while holding back a guy bigger then all of there dudes.
Biggest issue is the mana as I think this deck wants lifebain zombie main. Hydra is very powerful, not sure if it's good enough to not play thundermaw hellkite though.
A deck I didn't test with much as I have self respect is bant hexproof. The most worthwhile thing I've gleaned from testing is that witchstalker isn't the greatest, at least in Bant. It's possible that going a more selesnya beatdown style deck wants this card a lot but in bant, it suffers from being a three-drop that's neither geist of saint traft or providing immediate value(unflinching courage, silverblade paladin).
Junk reanimator is something I didn't really bother testing with either because I hate playing with and against the deck and I'm hoping ooze hates it to tier 2 status. Good day of testing.

Stay away from the rape cave!!!Yep, guy is a moron. After telling me that he didn't think I should have been infracted, he follows up by saying I should appeal even though we all know how that'll go.
Oh, gee, DarkRitual. When you're right, you're right. Thanks for showing me the error of my misguided ways.

My LGS indirectly gives me a late birthday gift. The owner talked about his remaining packs of ROE still selling for MSRP (there's about a box of packs in there). I decided to get a pack since I wasn't active during that period. Owner tells me the best card to hope for is probably Inquisition of Kozilek since a mythic has already been cracked.
Proceeded to crack Emrakul. Even owner was suprised.

what do folks think is a good buy price for Mutavault? I didn't crack any in pre-release and don't see myself buying packs of M14, and only drafting maybe 2 or 3 times before Theros. Which means I'm cherry-picking the specific cards I want. Will need 1 more Chandra, 4x Mutavault, and 3 more Scavenging Oozes as the pricey cards.
Thanks to NerdBoyWonder for the amazing sig!
Son, I want you to know that no matter what happens between your mother and me, it's all your fault.

Ok. Things I like in my aggro decks:
- really nice curve
- cards that are good going long
- mana sink
- lots of synergy
I really like the AIR red deck; it has a lot of things I like, but doesn't have mana sinks, is a bit lame going long in some draws and can get mana screwed. However, it did teach me that BTE is brutal; batallion is REAL and Dynacharge is a real card. These were valuable lessons. It also reinforced that threat density is almost a firm of card advantage.
Mono R Midrange (long time readers) had all the mana sinks I liked and was just a great deck (I cashed in 9 straight events after all); but it was prone to flooding a little; nonetheless there were some nice synergies and a good endgame.
Can I get the best of both worlds?
Yes.
[deck]
4 Burning Tree Emmissary
4 Firefist Striker
4 Goblin Shortcutter
4 Hellrider
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Lightning Mauler
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Stromkirk Noble
4
Krenko's Command
2 Dynacharge
18 Mountain
4 Mutavault[/deck]
So, there's a lot to break down here:
- 18 red mana sources; same as AIR
- 22 mana sources, lets me have way more consistency
- no removal; AIR doesn't use removal either and in my experience it just isn't that good in most game 1s; instead I'm running eight "falter" creatures (Firefist and Shortcutter); these make your 1 drops and Hellrider a lot better (unblockable Hellrider!); red removal doesn't really interact well with creatures that cause Hellrider problems (Searing Spear sucks vs Reckoner, Smiter, Swagtusk); but these guys ROCK vs those cards.
- lots of batallion enablers
- lots of endgame; Hellrider, Dynacharge, Mutavault
Now, this isn't 100% solid. Maybe I do want 4 Dynacharge (cut 2 Firefist or 2 Shortcutter); also might want to swap one creature slot for:
- Chandra's Phoenix (probably not good)
- Pyreheart (great card, maybe not needed with 8 falter creatures)
- Foundry Street Denizen
- Ash Zealot (
though I'm weary of too many RR creatures; might be a viable switch for Krenko's Command?).
So that's where I'm at. The deck is AWESOME, but it can be BETTER.
Ball is in your court gentlemen.

I used to run SW with 3x Hellion Crucible. It was still ok. I guess I just have an irrational hate for Legion Loyalist. I understand him in your deck.4 Mutavault.
I like your list minus the Legion Loyalist, [card]Krenko's Command[/card] and Dynacharge.
I'd rather see burn there so you have more options vs decks with problem creatures. Maybe the "just race" plan makes sense though.
[card]Chandra's Phoenix[/card] might have a place too. It would fit your curve well and has haste / evasion.
I wonder if maybe Ash Zealot deserves a place as well. I feel
like BTE loses a lot without Flinthoof Boar.

I think with another day, I might have arrived at Z's list. It occurred to me in my initial testing that I was utilizing AIR components minus the manabase(had 4 BTE/Mauler/Striker at one point) but I didn't want to quite on Chandra's phoenix. Thing I don't like about the deck is lack of ash zealout. Other then that...interesting.
It's a fine BTE deck, has 12 one-drops and should have zero problems activating battalion.
