we set up an appointment with a realtor monday to go to view two places firmly in our price range in pretty nice neighborhoods in harlem. when we got to the realtor, we noticed the address was the same as the one we went to where we were baited, switched, and generally harassed by the woman showing us apartments last year at a realty agency with a 1-star review on yelp, though the name on the door had changed.
i was pleasantly surprised to find that the woman i had been emailing with was the same woman who saw us at the office. we sat down and after groaning that many properties they listed on zillow weren't available/were old, she actually had one of the listings available but the super was not working (we were on site at around 6 pm, and most supers in the city stop working at 4 pm on the dot). she printed out a list of places for her very short coworker to show us and we were on our way.
our first stop was at 169 and
amsterdam, not the nicest neighborhood but with a lot of families and is in an area i'm not unfamiliar with. when we got to the apartment, another call to the super ended in yelling about how he couldn't show us the place.
our second stop was to a 163 between broadway and amsterdam apartment at the top of a 5-floor walk up. the size of the place was nice, but the smaller of the two bedrooms was not enough to hold my roommate's things and also the doors looked like they were surplus scrap metal. we passed but i was very surprised at how much i didn't hate the apartment.
our final stop was to an address that didn't exist -- 610 157 st -- and culminated in walking around the block about 4 times along riverside dr. looking for the elusive building. it unfortunately was located at a place i'd like to have moved to the most after manhattanville but the guy was taking us to the nether realm through a portal that was not open, so it was not to be.
before we left, he assured us he'd come back with
more addresses at a later time and we'd try our search again. i have not been contacted since.

Just get a new real estate agent. Some of us actually do our jobs.
You post on dtr? Cool? Honestly, I don't know who posts there and who doesn't.
I actually read that site quite a bit but its mostly because a lot of the people I used to interact with on MTGS are over there.
It should be a privilege to post here

I agree with Pendulum that posting pictures of people we've interacted with on other sites as a way to demean their physical appearance is one way to make sure this site never takes off. Part of the gutter's charm was how it could criticize people bluntly and still make a good case as to why that criticism was happening but going "hey, look at this person we know, aren't they socially inept based on how they look" is bullying.

I think getting lols at the expense of online personas are ok, since they're just that - personas - but using real life pictures that were submitted to the gutter in trust is different. I mean how did we feel when Nai jerked us around for three months when it became clear that the gutter wouldn't survive no matter how many negotiations? It felt like a breach of trust. For us to do the same thing to iridium just brings us to their level.

This is a major part of my confusion. But I guess it will all blow overThough Pendy's sig about G_R being a terrible person is ludicrous; GR is one of the friendliest people you'll meet.
Eric, Ren and Jensen were activists
Heads loaded with theory, their hearts are filled with passion
Shared the same left wing politics
Liked the same music, they were part of the protest movement
Now, Anna presented herself as a feminist
Studied the way they talked and dressed
Fashioned herself an anarchist
Eric fell in love with Anna at the meeting of the crime think conference
He didn't know it but Anna was an FBI informant

If I had to guess it would be that posting an irl pic of someone we don't get along with goes above and beyond this year+ back and forth between the mods on sally and DTR have been having. It's like breaking the fourth wall to kick your audience in the balls. This is a major part of my confusion. But I guess it will all blow overThough Pendy's sig about G_R being a terrible person is ludicrous; GR is one of the friendliest people you'll meet.

That and Sally's stupidity is amusing because they take themselves so seriously and actively try not to be stupid.
We just don't give a fuck.

I don't think they were posted to make fun of their looks -- we have a Checkbox after all and he looks like Yanni's asshole before a shave -- I believe the pictures were posted to show how different the iridium used to be, to show how they tried to fit into the Gutter and possibly became "try hards" with the length they went to (photo).
I'm the only one who has continuously been making fun of looks, so the ire should all be aimed at me, if anyone. I don't mind, I think it is funny how stereotypically frail and nerdy ER looks, and it explains a lot of the Internet ego. So I have not held back. After all, they just banned me for having two active infractions instead of three, I am allowed to be extra cruel for a while.

I knew I would take it on the chin when I posted the goofy mask picture, and I did it anyways. It's become a damn meme. They should not have expected any less with their photos. It was the proper Gutter, home of the Bitsy Kong thread. They should have told us all to fuck off and shove the photo requirement up our collective ass, and they'd likely have been given entry with a much higher respect earned.

I get that. But most people - barring manasjap - "tried hard" in the gutter at one point (which I think is what KCW was trying to say by posting that old N_S intro post). I just don't think we need to post those awkward "person holding the camera while also holding up the gutter verification sign" pics to prove that.I knew I would take it on the chin when I posted the goofy mask picture, and I did it anyways.
