If you're still doing them, I might take you up on that. Do you accept PayPal payments?

Hmmm...we already have 2 Lightning Helix effects in RtR block, so I'm betting against life gain (though I'd like it). Red has card filtering but not straight draw...a draw engine would be sweet.

Or, like all of the goofy red mythics, it could be some totally off-the-wall ultimate that's too narrow to be useful.

Our replacement for Volcanic Strength doesn't quite get there...

Lightning Talons 2 :symr: Enchantment-Aura

Enchant creature.
Enchanted creature gets +3/+0 and First Strike.
"This is going to hurt a lot, but on the bright side, you'll be dead soon" - Sedris, the Traitor King

Bantchantments is getting another boost for the months before we get rid of all the hexproof boogiemen, though likely too costly for Standard:

Illusionary Armor 4 :symu: Enchantment-Aura

Enchant target creature.
Enchanted creature gets +4/+4.
When enchanted creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice Illusionary Armor.

We're drowning...the midwest is just getting pounded with thunderstorms and heavy rain day after day. I have a sump pump for my basement, but bare concrete still looks scary damp. I feel like I need to run downstairs and check things constantly...
Just what I didn't want to hear waking up: more heavy rains. My front yard is a swamp right about now. There's standing water everywhere, and the driveway has flooded a few times from
all the runoff. Both creeks near me, which were bone dry last year, are running full.
Dan, I'm wondering if I should go rent a boat in order to come out your way...our back yard looks like your front sounds. Are all the roads passable down your way?
My father in law has a boat. We might need it. :D

As for the roads, most of them are passable. You can take 7 Highway to 227 to Airport and bypass the two creeks I mentioned. I need to get out today, so I'll let you know. If needed, we can always wait until tomorrow. The water usually recedes after a few hours, and it's not supposed to rain tomorrow.

Tomorrow might be better anyway. I have some cleaning that needs to get done around here. Bleh.

If that red enchantment had flash, it would be useful. As it is, meh.

I'd love a Terminate effect for Chandra.

Enchantment destruction being secondary in red would make sense. Fills in the WGR "shard." Primary in green, secondary in white and red.

As I'm walking out of the walk-in cooler today at work, the cute little Puerto Rican Deli Team Lead stops me and asks me if I would marry her. She then goes on to say, "You're so good at putting away the trucks that I'll bet you're really good at other things."

Day made.

She's also a redhead. She dyes it, but it's still sexy.

I don't care what Chandra does, so long as it's actually playable.

Unrelated, I may go to the Sacramento PTQ next weekend Ham. Depends on how tired everyone is after MM midnight release on Thursday.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Played a few games of RtR Block Constructed on MTGO last night with my Rakdos deck.

[deck]
Creatures (28)
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Foundry Street Denizen
3 Legion Loyalist
4 Spike Jester
4 Rakdos Shred-Freak
2 Rix Maadi Guildmage
4 Hellhole Flailer
3 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch

Spells (11)
2 Civic Saber
2 Weapon Surge
3 Mizzium Mortars
4 Dreadbore

Lands (21)
4 Blood Crypt
2 Rakdos Guildgate
9 Mountain
6 Swamp

Sideboard (15)
4 Mugging
2 Electrickery
3 Act of Treason
2 Toil / Trouble
3 Auger Spree
1 Slaughter Games
[/deck]

It's very solid. Completely destroys Esper control and has a favorable mono red matchup assuming you can do math and avoid getting blown out by Dynacharge like I did. :p The mana base feels good, but I need more games to confirm. Sideboard is solid, especially in aggro matchups. I'm not really
missing Ash Zealot but I may try and shove her in just to see if I have any mana issues with her. I had Weapon Surge in the deck to create blowouts but I think Dynacharge would just be more effective even if I lose a creature or two in the process. At worst the creatures ought to just trade off unless running into another first strike blocker (which is partially why I had it in there in the first place). I have removal to take care of those types of creatures though.

Civic Saber is nice, but I might bring it down to one to make room for a fourth Mortars. Being able to clear a blocker for a turn will on average net me as much or even a little more damage than Civic Saber would on an uncleared board. Plus eight removal spells mainboard feels really good.

Without a doubt, the best reason to be running black here is Dreadbore. This card is just so solid and provides utility that mono red simply does not have access to. Running Augur Spree in the side to take care of the occassional Boros Reckoner is also
wonderful.

Sure think Ham.

@Val: Deck looks sweet. I actually put something similar together. It's really just super budget Rakdos Aggro so I have something not tier 1 to play against people with to make the games more fair.

Yeah, it's pretty cheap besides the Dreadbores and Blood Crypts, and those are only about $50 total. The rest of the deck is really cheap. Hell, on MTGO it's about 25 tickets. Even mono red can't beat that since it runs Reckoners.

In other news, I feel like a gigantic pussy. Was outside smoking, not paying attention when a hummingbird flew by my face. Normally my response would be "Ooooohhh hummingbird", but caught off card as I was, I imagined it as one of those giant flying Scarabs from the mummy and I dropped my cig and was halfway in the house before realizing what an idiot I am.

Saw this in a Craig Wescoe article:

3. What advice would you have for someone competing in a pro tour to improve their mindset?

A lot of players make irrational decisions because they are nervous, and this happens a lot on the pro tour. Players switch decks the night before the event because of a sudden fear that it won't perform for whatever reason. Or they play a high variance deck like monored because they believe they have to get lucky to do well at the pro tour, instead of relying on their skill set that qualified them for the event (note: this example does not apply to Patrick Sullivan or other players who are particularly skilled at monored).

The bold emphasis is mine. Wescoe is one of like, 2 "pros" that I actually have some respect for. It's nice to know that he recognizes that Mono Red takes skill, or maybe he means that you can be proficiently
skilled in Mono Red, or maybe.. K, now I'm confused. :gonk:

Anyways, you know what really grinds my gears? When people spell Mono Red as one word. I see "monored" and I want to pronounce it "MON-erd."

So, I think I'll get into Modern more wholeheartedly again. I've been getting inklings to run MBI and Scapeshift lately. Definitely at a different LGS, though. I don't want my deck stolen again.

I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

At LP- at least you didn't scream like a bitch. In Florida, we have flying cockroaches the size of hamsters (You ever hear of a Florida hamster? It's not a sex act...). Those fuckers will fly straight at your face. I've see 200 pound grown men waves their arms and scream and make some unflattering facial contortions as they wince. As ham said, "Damn Nature! You scary!"
Fuck. Those. Just the mention of them
sends crawly sensations up my spine. I saw quite a few when I was down in Palm Bay for a month or so. One was in my bed.
I rarely ever get the urge to just kill something on sight, but when I see one of these, I'm ready to grab a gun and blast the fucker.
I remember the first time I saw one in the house, I stomped on it with shoes on. Then it kept crawling towards me like nothing happened, so I slammed a box full of moving stuff on it. It wiggled out from under it still went after me. I'd never seen such a resilient creature before, I figured it was a zombie cockroach and about went into hysterics.

Fuck your warm climate. You can keep your Palmetto bugs and lizards all over the sidewalk. I'll happily take snow seven months out of the year to never see them again.

Does it fly? (Y/N) _

If (N):
1. Take a shoe (not a flip flop, something heavy).
2. Aim 5 inches to a foot in front of said roach.
3. Throw shoe.
4. Clean up.

If (Y):

1. Run like hell.

Problem solved?
