Burn isn't that good in Legacy, it was decent for a time but I think Dig Through Time was the last straw on that camel.

I’m actually kind of extremely upset about this, and it’s been on my mind since yesterday, but, well, breakup kinda pushed everything else out.

If you are my friend, or if you consider us friends, PLEASE initiate a conversation with me every once in a while. Because right now, I’m going to be honest, only one or two of you REGULARLY do that. And that’s ******* sad.

You wanna know the quickest way to stop being my friend? Don’t initiate a conversation with me. For awhile, I’ll be happy with initiating. Eventually, though, I’ll start feeling like I’m just bugging you, and so I’ll stop, and if you don’t initiate, that’s honestly gonna be the end of it right there.

Like, I’m not asking you to initiate every single conversation but just can we try and make this more even? I get that a lot of you have your own ****, or have social anxiety. I do too. And I don’t think it’s fair that I, who is super stressed, depressed, and has and has always had major social anxiety (something I think I’ve made pretty clear to most of you) am expected (or I feel like that.) to initiate every conversation we have.

I guess it just makes me feel like there’s no reciprocation. Like I’m putting all the effort into our friendship, and you just go “Oh, hey, it’s that person” whenever I initiate. And that’s a ****ing horrible feeling, honestly. I don’t want all my friends to just be acquaintances. Especially right now.

I’ve lost a LOT of friends this way. I’m SICK of losing friends this way. I’m sick of the friendship dying because I feel like you guys think of me as an annoyance. So to the friends that I still do have, if you honestly want to remain my friend, or if you enjoy talking to me, TAKE THE INITIATIVE SOMETIME. Just a simple “hi” on skype or in my inbox or texted, for those of you who have my number is FINE.

I feel like I’m being a total ***** here, but I also feel like it’s not fair that I’ve had to initiate 99% of the conversations in 99% of the friendships I’ve had.

There are a lot of you who I probably won’t initiate with again (at least, if you don’t initiate at all.), because I’ve reached this point, and I kinda feel like a lot of you don’t really give a **** about me anyway. Which is perfectly fine. But if you come to me a month down the road with some “We never talk, what happened to you” bull****, I’m going to link you to this post because this is probably why.

I'm doing pretty good. I'm beginning to stabilize after having a couple of fast-paced months, which starting with me getting together with Brooke and then going to Vegas. Before I knew it, Brooke's birthday rolled around, and then our trip to Comic-Con happened, and then I realized at that point I wasn't playing much Magic. Or coming to DtR. But now that's changing, and I've/we've been returning to Magic. It's good times.

I moved in with Brooke and I have someone else staying in my apartment and paying the rent there. My job sucks, so I've decided to just go through the motions until I find something better, but in the meantime I've managed to save up some money, so there's that.

I haven't been finding the time to play MTGO though (and I'm not a big fan of the changes either), and consequently, no writing, but Brooke and I do play a lot of Standard together now, and I just introduced her to Modern. She loves it, but she only knows Red Aggro because....well, look at who she's dating.

How is everyone else doing? Kait? Ham?

If I recall you don't play DEs, SE/8M have a positive EV now so the changes actually improved it (link).

The changes also improved the competition at least during my timezone since I'm facing the POTYR people much more often - which is great news for us Burn players since it means more Tier 1 decks which helps clear out all the stuff we're horrible against.

I'm still a straight white male, so it's hard to stifle all this privilege while talking about my life. I'll try though, for you.

I played in a final farewell DE before the changes, went 3-1. I've enjoyed the 8-man changes since I generally sold packs to pay for more tournament entries, so play points are a neutral change for me.

I'm in the market to buy a house soon, so I'm living pretty close to the bone to pay off credit card debt and build up a down payment. Frequent adventures into MTGO aren't in the budget, but I have a 400 ticket surplus that I'll ride for a while. I sold my paper collection when the Modern prices went nuts a few months ago. I think I sold $1200 worth, mostly on the back of 2 playsets of Snapcaster Mage and a pile of Blood Moons. I still have more stuff, but didn't care to list playsets of Lightning Helix and the like. I only bothered listing cards worth $15 or more.

Vegas is in December so it'll be dumb say exactly what I would be playing. It'll be Modern and Standard though, and good thing I play Modern because I know shit about Legacy.

there has been something on my mind for a while

On another forum of which I am a member, some of the other users have taken to calling me a robot, likely because of my extremely formal and proper manner of speech. I do not appreciate that, but I usually ignore it, since I know that those users are taunting me, hoping to make me become angry about it.

However, I wonder how they even conceived that idea in the first place, so I wish to ask this forum: do I seem to be "robotic" when I speak? I certainly am not attempting to seem that way, but I simply have a formal and proper manner of speech; to me, such speech is natural and normal.

I often state that posts on an internet forum cannot convey tone of voice or facial expression, which are prime indicators of emotion, so that may be a reason that some of my posts may seem to be lacking emotion; when communicating verbally with other people directly, I certainly do display emotion, as is normal for most people.

What does everyone else say about this? Do you believe that I seem to be "robotic" when I speak, or should I dismiss that idea as merely some cruel joke that the users of my other forum have started?

Seems fine to me Kait - your usually really informative but snarky and aggressive on this forum (at least in the threads which I read, except during that time when you were hacked) so its emotional enough.

Use some goddamn contractions. And fucking curse more, dagnabbit.

People are for the most part ignorant and not able to communicate in a proper way, speaking or writing. That's why they consider a robot one that is more civilized than them.
