What do you guys think about pulse of the forge in the Sideboard of modern burn for soul sisters? There's 2 people playing it at fnm, and out of 12 people who usually show for modern that's too many autofolds for my taste.

i think you are better off playing rain of gore or everlasting torment. changing deck is probably the best solution

Soul Sisters is actually favorable for burn if you've built your 75 correctly. I don't know why you'd need fancy tech for it.

I think you are overly optimistic. I think if they are playing martyr of sands, the matchup is always horrible. If they are not playing it, you can win having a fast start with creatures, but you can't hope beating a deck that plays soul warden and soul attendant with just burn spells. Anyway they could bring in even more hate after sideboard and if they do burn is unfavored for sure.

I can honestly say I've never lost to it playing Burn, but maybe all my opponents are really bad or my 75 is always better than everyone elses. I tend to run a lot more Searing effects than everyone else.

It may sound odd, but unless I'm playing either burn or infect, I'm just not going to play modern. Mostly I don't want to spend a lot of money on a deck when I could just go to the shop earlier and just draft. Thanks for the info though. Part of it might be just wanting to make pulse of the forge work, I've had it work remarkably well in the past in both commander and kitchen table, so I have a sentimental attachment to the card.

I think he mentioned Ascendancy. Mono-red's consistency probably outweighs whatever Ascendancy gives you though.

Ascendancy and Piledriver are what I was thinking about building around.

I've played with Mardu Ascendancy. Hordeling Outburst was much better.
