I am more times than I would like to admit the guy who has less personal hygiene than others. One time I was at an event after a conversation i was having with another player he put his bag on the table. He pulled out a stick of deodorant and handed it to me. No words, no explanation. I needed none because I knew after a few rounds that I needed it. I have been in an almost constant state of depression for the past few years and the only things that keeps me going is competitive magic. I have let my game slip along with personal hygiene for too long. Not everyone is at a good spot in their life and it translates over into their game, makes them salty and affects their drive for cleanliness. I know this personally because I have been there and done that and im trying to do that less. I generally agree with the idea that you should consider a heart to heart talk with a friend who is in the same situation I was in. I cannot speak for everyone but I can only shed light of what I have personally experienced.

@Maverick, if you are on the PT spec plan, QuietSpeculation account stuff is in the trading forum, helps to get an edge.
@LP, TBuzz: As a Red grinder that favors aggro, that Abzan aggro list looks disgusting as hell and enticing as an aggro player. It has me wanting to break my rule of getting value by grinding a deck instead of switching every two weeks. To beat that deck I'd have to be playing the control role which the current Braverman styled lists aren't favored for. The only attack vector that jumps out is to attempt to capitalize on mana stumbling but that seems shaky at best. Pound for pound your creatures are better and you have access to some good manasinks in Warden and Deathdealer, and this aggro deck easily lasts past turn 6 with the growing creatures.
How would you attack this deck in Red? I'm thinking that its doubling down on control role g2/3 by swapping the low end creatures for Outpost Siege, Twinbolt, Arc Lightning, Searing Blood, but the access to the PWs still seems difficult to get around.
Stuck now in States choice between Red Aggro, BW Warriors or trying to get this list together...

Take a shower you sweaty piece of shit. I don't get how you couldn't shower and look presentable everyday.

Smell bothers me, but nothing wierds me out more than looking at someone's greasy hair, who instead of shampooing just splash tap water on it to make it look less "bed head".

It's unfathomable to me how someone wouldn't want to look their best everytime they walk out the door.

generally smelly, unclean people don't realize they're like that because of acclimation
they've developed an immunity to it, mostly because of their room and clothes

There has got to be a viable R/B list that we can brew. There's too many good creatures floating around in those colors.

there doesn't have to be, there hasn't been since Geralf was sending messages, and there might never be again. it's time to let RB go. it sucks and has for years. just because it's the most metal of color combinations doesn't mean you need to play it. goodnight sweet Rakdos.

BR Dragons.
BR dragons is fun.
There was also a RB aggro that started 7-0 at the scg open and got a deck tech.

That is certainly an option. Got a link to a good starting list?

Only one match vs Abzan Aggro and he beat me. He is the best player in my area and a pro tour regular though, so there's that.
That was also before I made adjustments for more early game interaction (Kolaghan's monument x2 + 1x Hero's Downfall > 3x Draconic Roar).
I smacked the shit out of GW devotion though.

Im stuck trying to figure out which deck may be my best option for states based on the SCG NYC open results and invitational.
I have the most experience playing Red aggro and currently running a modified Braverman list, while assembling the BW Warriors that LP posted because it has a lot of non interactivity. But the Abzan aggro list looks hard to beat with either of those and looks well positioned against a lot of the field.
And now there's this list which looks good enough to put up results without a lot of people being prepared for it.

why don't you just play one of the best decks
Posted: Wed Apr 08, 2015 6:01 pm
by lorddax
That would be the smartest and If I had the cards, I'd be playing either Abzan Aggro or Jeskai Burn but still trying to trade away non standard stuff for the pieces. With Mono red finishing well in both the invitational and opens, it may just be best bet to continue grinding it instead of trying to change decks for one event. . .

Generally you don't smell your own smells and if you're just generally socially clueless, you're not going to make any effort to or to make sure that the smell everyone smells isn't coming from you.
Also, it's fucking warm in most venues because you have hundreds to thousands of people squeezed into too-small spaces, generating friction or putting bodies worth of space heating in close proximity. People are going to sweat in those conditions short of refrigerating venues.
Some people aren't as self conscious as others. Hence why many people at magic tournaments wear black band tshirts and loose jeans and have 2-feet of thinning, uncombed hair.
These myriad reasons combine into the sweaty transformer we call the unwashed guys of magic Gabby Sparkz or whatever the fuck her name is writes about in her magnum opus #SweatGate.

Also, Gabby's stream is kind of bad but this is mostly because she's not that great at the game and her voice has a kind of Fran Drescher quality to it that makes me want to stab my ears off. Her article was well written and I'm excited to see what new comments have cropped up 10-fold since the 80 that were on it yesterday when I last saw it.

And women can be guilty of things too (not that this excuses men for being guilty). I recently played at a GP with a women who intentionally wore low-cut, revealing clothes. Her playmat was a custom mat of her nude (but covering the important areas) and seducing Garruk.

Vince Metzler Sounds like that is a problem with them, Vince. Maybe those women should stop being so fucking judgmental about people eh? If they don't like the community in a certain hobby, the answer isn't for them to inject themselves and change that community. The answer is maybe that community isn't for them and they should find one more to their liking.

Why not you help your boy Ben out, Kyle and post some statistics yourself to back up his silly idea that women aren't interested in Magic?
Seriously, you guys keep grasping at straws to excuse shitty behavior that drives women away. Next you'll say it's actually about ethics in trading card games.
