I've been reading a fair bit on police misbehaviour down in the states lately, which is why I stumbled on that story. Tons of murders go completely unpunished just because the murderer happened to be in uniform. Crazy stuff.

You have to take stuff like that with a grain of salt. While there are, absolutely, police officers out there who abuse their authority, I don't believe there are as many as others seem to think.

WARNING: THESE ARE IN MY SOMEWHAT-EDUCATED OPINION. I am NOT getting into debates on these particular cases.
For example: The Michael Brown case out of Ferguson, MO wasn't murder. He was caught breaking the law and was behaving aggressively towards the officers that faced him. ME report states he was shot in the front, not the back (a huge stance from the black community was that the officer(s) shot him in the back as he ran away.)

The Freddie Gray case out of Baltimore, MD was murder. The officers in question are facing charges. Mr. Gray was killed while riding in the back of a paddy wagon. His neck was broken, iirc. I'm not AS familiar with this one as I am the Michael Brown case, but I believe he was killed by 6 (6?!) crooked cops, 3 of which were black (I think. At least 2 were.)

Even more pressing, I think, is the reaction this is causing in our communities. Last week (or the week before), a County Sheriff was executed by a man while pumping his gas. The only thing he did wrong was put on his uniform that day. He wasn't involved in any kind of scandal. He was a good man who was shot down by a citizen.

It's pretty scary, really.

I can only assume that's to assure people that even though he doesn't have a big truck, he's still got a big dick. I, for one, was happy he cleared up that confusion.
