My bet for the returning mechanic in Theros is Grandeur. Seems the most appropriate.
Aaaaand triple posted to make up for my inactivity the past few days.

I cut Ash Zealot:
http://community.ist.utl.pt/viewtopic.p ... 498#p63498
Feel free to beat me over the head, but I've never felt better about my list than now.
Ash Zealots and rancors were, and I always kenw deep down, "pet cards" to me. I really liked them, I really liked their interaction.
But if I'm getting serious about streamlining, I can't afford those pet cards. I think I'll alternate with a Mono red list for my zealots or just run the rancor version at FNMs and the streamline only at tourneys just so they still see that I love them

Went 2-1 at fnm with junk reanimator, losing to gruul aggro, beating mono red and junk midrange.
It's only my second event with the deck and I'm insanely bored of it. The lines of play are so simple. Took out my grixis control and played games with my opponents after each match and it was tons more enjoyable.
Also if Chandra comes with price of progress I'd buy 20 copies.
the Junk rites guy last night was running sylvan primordials_acidicslime.dec
Walked over to his match vs. Jund. Jund was sitting on two woodland cemeteries and every land he topdecked got wrecked.
Oh BTW Sylvan Primordial destroys planeswalkers. Who knew (or cared)?
Trolldeck is troll.
Also yeah I just started magic this season, if I I sound more
experienced than that it is literally only because of the wisdom of this clan and my obsession with absorbing its content.

@Fate: Read your post about why you dropped Zealot. I think you made the right call. While she is a great card, the cards that make her a beast don't really have room in your deck, namely SW. Rancor also has its place in Gruul lists, but not YOUR list. Knowing your deck and its win plan well enough to know when to cut good cards is a sign of becoming a better player. I really like your list now and might give it a go. I haven't brewed my own in a while since having less time to play, and I'd much rather play an FoS deck and help report & tune it, then grab deck of the week off the interwebs. Course I have to remember where I stuck my stomping grounds....

Also anyone see that this little helper is coming round again? [card]Chandra's Phoenix[/card], which means that there will most likely be a red PW that deals damage.
And this card most likely means a cycle of these, so recurring red cards may be a good way to influence tempo. So far the phoenix and Hammer of BoGoblin might be abuse targets.

oh wow I just read Koth for the first time
Holy shit I can understand the nostalgia now. THAT guy is a planeswalker, fuck tibalt
It was only like.... Last season?
Up till today he's still the only non-garbo red walker ever printed.
Green has all three garruks which were good.
White has fucking-imbalanced-elspeth and Ajani.
Blue has all four powerful Jaces, with one to rule them all.
Black has Lily of the Veil and Sorin markov. Ok black's not that great either, but lily sees extensive play in all formats and has maintained a crazy price tag.
Red has Koth.
I
think it's a symptom of planeswalkers by their nature (typically costing more than 3, usually four or above) to be more suited to strategies that go later in the game, and red based decks can basically only aggro by the nature of their design right now.
I didnt' play back in scars, but i know Patrick Sullivan did work with a red deck that was sligh round one and game two turned into a control deck with Koth.

I got into Magic when AVR came out, so I had a lot to learn. I was casually involved with the RDW thread on Sally before Scars block rotated out. When Z started the new RDW primer, he sent a PM to me and I came by to contribute and learn.
I credit my improvement as a player entirely to my involvement with FoS. The collected wisdom of the players here is hard to match.

Screw you guys, I started playing "serious" Magic with the GTC prerelease and you make me feel so damn slow
BTW I went 3-0 at the local FNM with the ridicolous UG list I've posted some pages ago and I'm still laughing, people here just panic when they don't know the deck they're facing.

This makes me want to throw some Steam Vents into my Dos Rakis deck just to fuck with people at the LGS.

I like the deck, I've never really felt comfortable with the RR cost
of Ash Zealot in Gruul decks running BTE. Rancor I have a harder time cutting, but I think I'll try this deck out at the Dragon's Maze Game Day. Do you have any sideboarding comments? And one question: If you was forced to cut the Domris (I don't have any), what would you replace them with?

wow wind. Good news snowball
@platy I'll post SB plans later. For Domri? there isn't much that can compete, but did like Rangers guile in theory against azo charm decks. can make resto angel targetsimmune in a pinch also. instead of being set back they takethe damage +1. Domri is more proactive though.
id probably just run +3 mark of mutin though. or hell, pyreheart wolves is good against bant flash and uwr

I mean when you give someone news, good or bad, cake should honestly be standard issue as far as I'm concerned.

Grats on completing the trifecta.
Another week, another deck for me. I got some serious deck ADD. Trying Naya midrange this time, figured I had the huntmasters, might as well get some use of them.

So, anyone have any good baby names that they like?
Give him/her a normal name. John, Ryan, Clare, Josephine etc.
As a school teacher, I have found that kids with outstanding names tend to be the worst students in terms of both results and behavior (in general). There was also a study done which demonstrates this. It has something to do with class association - people tend to associate wacky names with the lower echelons of society.

Is it really possible to miss 2 Voice of Resurgence triggers just because you're on stream? Happened with Rob Castellon on his last match. Lucky it didn't matter since he won the game.

I'm recently playing some grixis control. It is super fun to play. It's not as grindy as playing esper or bant control, and it's not as retarded as playing the midrange decks.
My current list has gone through numerous tuning attempts (it started out as Fabiano's list), but there's still space for improvement.
