6 matches before I hung it up, but yeah, just doesn't feel good to me. Laugh all you want, seat of the pants feel influences my decisions.

If it performed that badly in a six round paper event, I would hang it up and move on too.

That's basically one bad run at an FNM, why give up so easily? If the mana base is bad from a color perspective, certainly re-do it, but don't give up an entire archetype because variance got you once.

I'm surprised MTGCanada doesn't give you access to MTGO cards so you can stream stuff.

They aren't that big. They said they would put videos of us streaming up, but they're only paying the standard rate they pay for articles. I just don't have the cash to buy my decks twice right now. Still trying to pay off my debts from when I was in Japan / pay for an upgrade course to help my career along.

The Mardu list I was playing now seems kind of clunky too, so I have no idea what to do. I guess this is what I get for only doing modern / cube / EDH for a month.

RW deck seems much better with Magma Jet.

Always feels like the worst card in the deck. Ashcloud on the other hand, does a lot of work.

Funny, I felt exactly the opposite. Brimaz felt like the best card in my deck, and Ashcloud the worst, but some of this is skewed by what I've tested against so far. The big thing about Brimaz is that it can play offense and defense very well. It's also the tits with Chandra.
midnight put up a rw aggro thread in Developing.

Which matchups are you finding Brimaz good in?

I think Magma Jet was the missing key, seems much more stable / smooth now.

Funny, playing Magma Jet at MDU's insistence was the only thing that made the deck playable last year too...

Where is MDU? I miss that guy.

Any idea how much RW aggro would run me on Modo?

It's more expensive than you think, unfortunately. It's almost a 100 tix just for Rabblemasters and Stoke, last time I checked.
And yes, Magma Jet is crucial to the deck. I disagree with a lot of lists that I've seen that want to run less than 3.

The great thing about the deck (for now) is that it is really flexible in both the main and sideboard. You can tailor it to fit in just about any meta.
I like your list, btw.

Forgot to mention that my friend in Japan (who is a very good control player) says that this deck is giving him fits and it's the only deck he can't beat.

I've found two Jet to be a good number personally. I could see doing a 3/3 split of LS and Jet if you suspect less Sidisi or just don't care.
Brimaz had been solid vs Jeskai Tokens and all aggro decks. He has been good against Sidisi Whip and control decks, and acceptable vs Abzan. I never hate drawing him. He's ridiculous with Chandra and nice with Stoke too.

I don't like maindeck Sarkhan right now. I also like three Chandra because she's just so good in this deck, but then again I'm running Brimaz (and you should be, too).
Posted: Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:17 am
by Lightning_Dolt
Brimaz has just never been good for me. They just always have Stoke or can't block effects and I eat shit every time I cast him. He great if you're ahead, but doesn't help much if you're behind.
Chandra is a max 2 of in any deck I build, I don't remember why, it's just a general rule of thumb when I build a deck for as long as I can remember.
Why don't you like Sarkan? I can see a 3/1 split or just dragons, but I'm not crazy about him in the SB. I don't think I ever really want 6 five drops.

by Valdarith
I could say the same thing about Seeker. I don't think that's a legitimate reason to not run him. He's excellent in a lot of situations.
Try three Chandra. I want to see one every game except vs UW Heroic.
I don't like Sarkhan because the format has become all about going wide and throwing haymakers. In this kind of meta I prefer flying over with a creature that can't be attacked into like Sarkhan. Pro white is also very relevant right now. 6 five drops in postboard games is fine in grindy matches of attrition.

This Canadian storm is bringing fuck tons of snow here in Southern California, and even within some parts of the city limits. It's even snowing in Mexico in the Northern Baja area.
What the shit Canada, no one here wants your winter. We're comfortable with our balmy shorts weather for this time of year, tkvm.

Not running Glare of Heresy in the sideboard is criminal.
