I promise to hardly even have any sex with her at all...

No offense to anyone, but I think I'll keep her away from the majority of you. I live up in Michigan and I still have to make sure I don't go too far South lest I run into redthirst's dick again. Fighting it off at Notre Dame was rather unpleasant.

Happy birthday Fax.

And Jund is def the best deck in standard. So far the last 3 weeks, I'm 2-2 against it with mono-red. Last night, played it twice, lost 0-2 first round(sideboard somehow got shuffled into my deck for a game loss) and 2-0'd my good friend James the second round. Overall, finished 3'rd place. Highlights include double hellrider attack, 10 triggers AND pyreheart wolf on board, and casting zealous conscripts on a centaur healer with unflinching courage.

One thing I've learned piloting mono-red this last month or so: I feel like a chode for considering playing Reckoner over Pyreheart Wolf. The wolf is SOOOOOOOO much better against everything but agro(and I guess Olivia). Wolfy wins games.

Take her to Disney or something instead? You don't have to drive at Disney.

Went 3-0 casually last night with Junk Rites at wednesday night magic, beating grixis control, boros deck wins, progenitor bant. The deck's quite ridiculous.

It's like the queen's sword. Its not official until it lands on your shoulder. The swelling will go down in a few days, you just have to remember to watch how close you kneel otherwise you might lose an eye.

Jund is easily the best deck.
junk has access to resto angel which I know we agree is in the top 3 cards in standard.

A look at the top 100 cards in standard will show 1 thrag, 2 huntmaster, 3 resto...

I see Junk Rites bandied about, but don't know what's actually in the deck. Does it fold as hard as I think to a 3 Rakdos Charm sideboard?

It doesn't fold to graveyard hate, since we board out a number of Rites game 2.

I'm pretty sure he was
referencing the primer for my deck, where I mention that Restoration Angel is one of the best cards in the format.

I wasn't disagreeing with the resto is one of the top cards in standard, I was only saying that resto being top 3 doesn't mean junk is automatically the best deck.

Exactly. Even though Jund is playing both of the "best" cards in Standard.

Meh agree to disagree. I just think it had better value cards and MUs . like voice and sin collector, fiend hunter, etc.

am I the only one who thinks Jund is a cake walk for aggro and dread junk rites? like miracle bonfires are the only thing about jund that comes close to scaring me

the sacrifice a creature effect? yeah Ive seen her and stomped her plenty. I'll have a longer post about what makes Jund good and aggro better when I get home

Being forced to discard creatures from
your hand every turn is kind of relevant, as well. In an archetype that kind of drives to empty its resources onto the board, Lili can virtually make your post-turn three draws null.

I have a better time vs Jund than Junk, however, my list has stagnated really bad, not touched the 75 for about a Month and a half... sooo.

There is an interesting tension. As a deck's quality becomes more known and the amount it sees play increases, the level of play by its pilots decreases as weaker players are attracted to it.

Eg: Delver was the best deck in the format, but most Delver players were bad. This meant that its numbers actually underrepresented how dominant it was.

Jund removes the need for player skill to be present. You literally just flip cards off of the top of your deck every single turn without making any choices.

It's one of, if not the easiest deck to pilot in Standard, which makes it the best.

by zemanjaski
I would agree with that assessment.

It reminds me of when everyone would claim that Cawblade was skill-intensive because of the mirror, entirely missing the point that the reason it was difficult was because the mirror was the only matchup against a deck operating on the same power level :(

I mean, I can see why Mono red or "1 threat at a time" lists have a problem against "1 for 1 removal" jund over time, but over here in "dump your hand on the table and say "you better miracle something" land I have no problems.

Anyway:

The way Jund gets ahead is... slow. Attrition strategy, right? here and there they'll get ahead, with Rakdos Return and miracling Bonfire as blowout cards. Besides that, they just can't deal with Naya Blitz on even a slow day or BTE.r/g. Olivia? Slow. And they don't have any tempo plays to get them there, no azorius charm, no hardboard wipe like Supreme Verdict, no early way to get ahead on CA. I'd rather see a Farseek than an azorius charm every day of the week. Sure they have thragtusk, but they can't replay him or blink him to make him scarier. Usually its just the thrag, so its value but its not enough to be truly scared about.

Junk rites
gets ahead with value too... but much more explosive value. With Unburial rites having flashback, they can play a creature effectively 3 times. Jund can't match that value. Angel of Serenity? Doesnt' get much more value than that. Resto angel+Acidic Slime? Already talked about. Sin collector? I lolat your duress and apetitite. voice of resurgence? a 2mana fuckin value creature.

Now obviously Jund can beat Junk rites. Jund can beat anything, it has no "bad" match-ups, it can slaughter games AoS and ground seal Unburial Rites. Sure, but the only "good" match-up I've seen for it is Jund aggro.

I just think of Jund as a "solid" deck. Sure its a "Solid" choice, and it will solid its way into first plenty of times. I just think Junk Rites and the tools it has is "insane." Just fucking insane. And i'd rather take an insane deck if over a solid one any day to a tourny, (I don't consider Naya bltiz insane, it can have insane hands
but its consistent as all fuck).

anyway thats my rant for today. I think I've lost one "game" (no matches) to Jund when I made no misplays, and it was because he had a 3 Thragtusk hand. Yeah, I fold to that, and that's why rites who can play 3 thragtusks off ONE thrag, is insane.

Ninjas: um. Easy to pilot=Best deck? Not sure I can agree with that one. its a "solid" deck because yeah, its HARD to fuck it up, but that doesn't make it the "best" if we're talking about cards being played to their maximum potential at the highest lvl of magic (which is also why aggro is seen of as "weaker" than it actually is).

Ussually, but not always. I think price is a better indicator. That list has Fliinthoof Boar #4 and Geist of Saint Traft number 12. Flinthoof Boar is no where near as good as Traft.
