Wow...that's not good
I've never really been exposed to that sort if chatter; there wasn't team speak in public games when I was playing and you would never get that sort if behaviour in team games / practice. Very sad and pathetic.

I expected a lot more out of Alliance. What a disappointment that was. Granted I think I just like Froggen way too much, that dude is a boss.
Froggen started to tilt towards the end, it's super hard to carry when literally everyone is underperforming when it matters

Your enjoyment of Dota is largely dependent on the tier and location of the players. It's a game best played with people who know what they are doing, or your friends.

Every bracket of NA East were hell holes when I played. I agree with you though, playing with friends is the best way to play that game. Ranked 5's is a completely different and more enjoyable game than pubs. That's true of any organized team based game though.

The typical DotA/LoL/HoN whatever community is a bunch of loud mouthed wanna-be's nagging you for every decision that goes against the established meta and mistake (yours or theirs, it's your fault). Everyone thinks they're an upcoming pro where their Elo/MMR/Rank doesn't reflect their true skill and will bitch endlessly about their bad team mates that keep them from that. Every single game has the losing team devolving into a flame war, where one player will always appeal to the other team for sympathy for how their team sucks.
Ranking up in the game is quite the slog. Let's say you're actually pretty good and you have a 65ish percent win rate. In LoL, if you're getting +/-10 LP per game, then you advance 10 LP every 3 games (about 2 hours or so). However, if the system thinks you're just lucky, you'll start to get +10/-15 per game. Where you'll advance 5 LP every 2 hours. Actually ranking up in that game is utterly soul crushing and will eat every bit of free time you have. Which makes the community even more venomous because there's so much at stake each game.
One of the worst parts is that any opinion that isn't held by a top 1% player is completely invalid, even if it's correct. Acting on or stating said opinion will just get you harassed because you aren't pro, so need to STFU and do the meta, scrub.

The Star Horn Royal Club vs. OMG games were fantastic. Fiddlesticks and Pantheon, WTF, but it worked.
I was also happy to see both Cloud 9 and TSM take a game from the Korean teams they got put up against. Cloud 9 was close to taking that to five games, even. It's clear that the other regions are getting better.
No, I don't expect SHR to beat SSW in the finals, but I'm still going to watch.

LoL sucks because no matter how good you are, one person can A) be terrible and cause you to waste 20 minutes + waiting to lose or B) can just troll you from the start and you have to wait 20 minutes to surrender.

To those who pre ordered sarkhan at $20. Sell now. He's sitting at $50 and I can't imagine he'll go higher.

I can't see NOT running Purphoros in that deck.
Also, is game day this weekend?

This weekend.
I had 2x Purphoros but thought maybe it was too cute. I haven't drawn him in the 10 games I've played with the list but maybe I should toss him back in. Any other ideas?

Purphoros will also never become active in this deck

i think your deck is not fast enough and does not go deep enough to be good lategame.
its not fish nore flesh its something between aggro and midrange.
if i were you:
remove tymaret and bloodsoaked (mb put bloodsoaked into sideboard vs control), add sorin (why the hell is there no sorin in a token list?) add sarkhan or stormbreath dragons.
OR remove some spells and add at least 4 more 1 drops and mb some 2-drops and make the deck overall more agressive.

It's a synergy deck that can play aggro or midrange depending on the match up (the kind of deck I like). Tymaret provides reach and recursion, tokens give you things to do with butcher, dictate gives you the option to sac your guys for value and wrath their board. Harness + sac outlets is an old trick that still works. Bloodsoaked Champion is just a creature you can sac and recur easily. Sorin is very good vs aggro and control, but I found him underwhelming vs monsters and abzan.

Just not sure tymmaret is even worth a slot, let alone more than 1 slot in a format full of bile blight, magam jet, and lightning strike.

It's a good thing Tymaret comes back from all that so easily.
So who else is pumped about the new Smash Bros on 3DS?

Was at the LGS and saw the owner playing it. Immediately mugged him and got in some reps. I sucked cause I've never even held a 3DS, but I was surprised at the quality of gameplay. Was fairly impressed.

Ugh, I'm going to pull the trigger on buying a Sarkhan because there's already a circulating rumor that we're not getting more sealed product in our country until January. Apparently the local distributor are assholes being in a monopoly.

Anyone know if Cockatrice still works? I can't afford to rebuy my deck on MODO since I know I'm getting laid off next week.

I've only been using it to deck test rather than playing online.

Yeah, it still works.

It's probably a simple issue with the host that your connecting to or something. I'm at work and not gonna be home for like...7 hours, but if you don't figure it out by then, I can probably walk you through it.

Cockatrice has muddied itself with unnecessary separate releases. At any time you find yourself saying to your users "download this if you have version X, and this if you have version Y, and no, there's really no way to tell which version you have," then you've failed.
That said, it's still the best MTG application.
I generally just uninstall and re-install any time a new set comes out, because I'm too lazy to figure out which version I have, and how exactly I'm supposed to be updating this particular one.
What's everyone playing for Gameday?

Figured it out. Needed a windows update. I've come to the conclusion that Tymaret isn't as good as I thought it was. Mostly because I read it incorrectly.

Does anyone want to play on Cockatrice with me? I don't like playing with randoms on there, they always get mad at me for not knowing all the controls, and various other things since I have no idea how the program is supposed to work.

I made it to Diamond I by being better than my opponents. Your team doesn't matter nearly as much in League of Legends as bad players would like to think it does. I mean, I got to Diamond playing nothing but Katarina...and it STILL works in Diamond even though she's pretty awful as a champion because her individual skill ceiling is very high. The only time I play a different champion is when I get queued with people who are clearly better than me at mid or I got early counter picked.

This is so true. My buddy started doing a lot better once he stopped worrying about other people. He got to Plat 2 before the grind did him in. He said that he was a lot happier after he stopped playing LoL. I think an equivalent scape goat in Magic is when people blame unlucky draws instead of bad plays or deck design for their loses.
The highest I got was Gold I. I had a knack for winning early, but couldn't close a game out. Before I quit the game awhile ago, I noticed that I had an easier time carrying a game as a mid or a top than I did as an AD carry (preferred role). Don't know if you've noticed the same thing or if it was all in my head.

The highest I ever got in League was last season, when I went on a losing streak and stopped caring. I then played like 20 games as Gangplank in a row, and eventually ended up at Plat 2. So strange.

Haven't played in a while, mostly because there was MTG event every weekend for the last couple weekends.

Yeah, he requires a lot of mana, and doesn't really do a whole lot for it.

I can't seem to come up with a good Mardu deck which is frustrating.
