I apologise for the fb comment. I did like our chats.

In summary (because I'm at work and should be working):
- I expect reverence from no one. It actually makes me very uncomfortable, and it's been awkward taking pictures with people at events, signing cards, whatever. I may act like an elitist dickhead but that's to cover up insecurities (strong face to the world etc), not because I actually think I'm special.

- I really didn't like all the PMs and other contact for deck advice. I felt is made UR clear that I didn't have the time, had already made available by thoughts or add nothing to add. Perhaps I should have been more clear. We both cracked the sads and we shouldn't have.

- that people with actual accomplishments from another country don't know who I am is completely fine with me; I'm a nobody in global magic.

Anything one think the new Sorin is just want BW needs to be competitive in Modern?

I'm thinking that you could just run Rack Rats, Bitter Blossom and Lingering Souls as threats with 2-3 Sorin + tons of discards (+ Lilly) with removal?

Nope.

BW is close to a deck, but new Sorin isn't as good as old Sorin.

Darn it.... I really need to ask, anyone played Dead Guy Ale before? What is that deck missing? I figure it was life-loss or something.

In Modern, I hate legacy, dying before reaching T1 three times in an event isn't fun - lets not speak about legacy :p

Bw is a deck in mOdern. Just pretend your playing jund with a token there and you'll do fine.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

all mtg cards are bad

invest your money in survival horror video games or those mechanical fish that sing to you when you press a button.

This is the modern deck I've been messing around with:

[deck]Mardu Midrange[/deck]
Been wanting to make a Mardu beats deck for Modern but Red, white and black lack the aggressive beater as Goyf or Scavenging Ooze. Playing Ham's Boros Deck and if it does not pan out I may switch to Jund or attempt a Mardu build also.
You have slightly more control and can take ove the game with Olivia once you've shredded their hand. It's likely worse than Jund / Junk, but I like it.

New Sorin isn't amazing, but comparing him to the old one is pretty useless.
Not when we're discussing modern.

Everyone else plays when they can, but me and everyone else I mentioned along with myself are the only ones who actually travel to big events semi-regularly while also having realistic ambitions of doing well.
DPaine is a good player, can expect to win any Standard event he attends, and plays tournament magic very regularly.

Hillariously the only card he had trouble finding (at least the first time he played the deck) was piracy charm.
He was gonna play a deck that wasn't Infect but couldn't get the cards, can't remember which deck
Ah, didn't watch the coverage, I just knew that little bit was true

Prolly involved some legends enchantments because based on some of the people who play with him (one of the guys I played with at the last scg claimed to know him/possibly be in his play group and was playing D&T and his buddy was playing Merfolk and seemed like he knew what was up) and
the fact he is an scg writer and likely would have no problem with getting any commonly played card

There are competitive non blue decks in legacy like Death and Taxes and Painters servant.
Jund and Loam (Loam barely qualifies as a blue deck, given it's nominally a green strategy splashing r/u/b) are the only other ones, TNN and the changes it brought with it to the format hurt (less to do with the card, which I feel most decks can find ways to answer it, but what it's done to the meta game largely) pretty much most other decks chance of competing, Maverick cannot beat miracles, Goblins has a helluva time with Hymn to tourach backed with Goyf.

Sure, legacy enthusiaists would throw around that there are several decks that remain unexplored/untuned (I actually think there is probably a viable zoo shell, just no one wants to brew it)
but honestly why brew when Delver is blue and beats the shit out of you and brainstorm DRAWS 3 FUCKING CARDS :/

I always go into events expecting to win because that's the right attitude to have, but when that doesn't become a reality I'm willing to use the experience as a learning device.

Tom Ross wanted to play Mono Red Sneak Attack.

He convinced Brad Nelson to play it, but had trouble finding some obscure card for the deck, so he jammed Infect instead.

Yeah, they certainly are, but in their defense it's a really cool deck. It's not tier one by any means but it's great fun to have before rotation.

Seth Manfield's article today brought up a really good point about the strength of Courser. As red decks, we need to prepare to be able to to deal with t2/3 coursers into polukronos.

Jund is an option. The only blue cards are turn/burn, aetherling, negate, and staticaster.

Edit - Oh, and Keranos. That one is big.
