[quote="Spambolic » Mon Jun 24, 2013 12:18 pm"]A federal district court judge ruled last week that a Michigan high school teacher violated a student’s free speech rights when he kicked the student out of class for voicing disapproval for homosexuality.

The ruling was perhaps a hollow victory for the student, Daniel Glowacki, though, because the judge assessed damages of just a single, solitary dollar.

The incident giving rise to the lawsuit happened in 2010 on national Anti-Bullying Day at Howell High School in Howell, Michigan.

The teacher, Johnson (“Jay”) McDowell got into a heated argument with student Daniel Glowacki in an economics class after Glowacki said he objected to homosexuality because he is Catholic.

Judge Patrick Duggan ruled that the First Amendment protects Glowacki’s speech.[/quote:

I'd just like to point out how ironic it is, that you want religious acceptance, yet are willing to ignore Jesus' mandate to make disciples, to be a "city on a hill" and to be a light in dark places. The modern American church is far too self-serving.

If you want loose guns laws, Texas (ironically) wouldn't be the first place I'd consider: Arizona and Utah are much more lax, though Protestants in Utah are essentially social pariahs, if you live in the more heavily Mormon areas.

Does climate matter? The South as a whole will be much hotter than you're accustomed to. Also, as others have said, cities in the South won't necessarily be conservative havens. You'd be better off in the suburbs of a city.

You might want to look at Colorado Springs. It is the home of Focus on the Family, and Colorado's gun laws aren't bad, especially outside of Denver. The climate would be more familiar as well,
especially compared to places like North Carolina/Georgia/etc.

I asked Senori why the op with a disclaimer was ok but my post with a disclaimer wasn't but the answer is basically "moderating" so I dunno the rules.
