Spite of Mogis seems playable as a 1 or 2 of (to make sure you don't draw it too early) unless something pops up that makes GY hate more common.

Spite of Mogis is unplayable since it doesn't go upstairs.

Maybe not in Burn for that reason, but it can be playable in something else. Mizzium Mortars has been embraced for a long time and people are starting to pick up on Fated Conflagration. Granted, they both have another relevant mode as well, but this can potentially hit a single target harder than either of those and gives you the half-card worth scry1.

And this is pretty much why this card is unplayable trash. I want to know how good my spell is going to be every time. Consistency is what a good deck builder strives for.

Well, I'm going to test it. Probably alongside

Spite of Mogis blew my mind on how good it is until I read it closer and realized it doesn't hit upstairs.
Kruphix.... if the wording really means your mana pool never empties while he's on the field, it just screams "break me".

Bant control is probably real now. This guy makes [card]Sphinx's Revelation[/card] a lot scarier.
Also like him for Commander.
Helix Pinnacle, [card]Blue Sun's Zenith[/card],
Omnath, Locus of Mana,
Skyscribing,
Stroke of Genius...yeah, it has applications.

Bant control was already real. I watched Saito Stomp people at the GP this weekend.

It was still technically worse than the other variants. RUG has been serving me well but I think I am done casting Stormbreath Dragons for the time being.

The Eidolon will have applications against decks that pukes out cheap creatures like MUD. Since they cannot remove it, they will be taking 2 damage for practically anything they drop (Except for Jace and the bident).
Against control, it will be removed instantly since having it around put a clock on the opponent similar to
Blood Artist.

Iroas is pretty mediocre without a lot of help coming in Journey. Purphoros probably dealing as much damage on the whole in Red Devotion and red aggro doesn't need help getting around the like 4 people still playing Caryatid's. If actual Boros aggro ala Ben Lundquist / Pat Cox style is good again then Iroas could have a legitimate place to exist.
UR God I want to be good, but it's SO SLOW.
Ajani is lol at five that at four would be a legitimately terrifying card. Instead it competes with planeswalkers that are cheaper, comes online just in time to get punched in the dick by strong four-drops and still dies to Detention Sphere. On the plus side, if you pump a Mutavault with the +3 you probably aren't losing.
Pyrostatic Pillar the Bear seems playable
Spiny Starfish probably isn't good enough til post-rotation and even then may suffer from Omenspeaker-itus where it's just slightly under the curve the entire
length of time it's legal.
Silence the Believers is just another annoying black removal spell.
Dictate of Kruphix is going to give hope to Maze's End players. Again.
Kruphix is 100% EDH and Travis Woo.
Hall of Triumph is cute and might find a space down the line.
Godsend costs too much to equip sadly.
Obviously all of this is for current-ish Standard, since trying to guess 'this card will be good a year from now' is just actual guessing. There are plenty of 'almost-good' Standard cards that come up short. See Exava, Omenspeaker, and plenty of other cards. Sometimes things change- I was recently reminded I called Azure Mage pretty much stone-unplayable and a year later I convinced Channelfireball to run them in thier Nationals Caw Blade deck to great success.
Nobody is going to get all them all right, but the whole 'fuck context, powah!' aspect of card evaluation is pretty overrated.

The best thing about new Ajani is it's $30 and casual players think lifegain is the best thing ever. Easiest card to sell in the set, even without seeing the rest of the spoilers.
I don't think I've ever played against a casual white deck where its focus wasn't about gaining a billion life with no win cons. They also all contain
Seraph of the Sword thinking it's indestructible, when it really dies to every relevant removals.

Ya, Iroas maybe has a shot for a Boros Midrange ala Tajic, aurelia, firemane avenger. Being hard to block and indestructible makes battalion maybe a little more reasonable? Idk, I want to play it just because I've wanted a shell for firemane avenger since I smashed face with it back in draft.
UR god -- america control? America will be much easier to
play consistently with the new temple. Plus I heart Izzet charm <3

Playing Iroas with so many evasive creatures seems counterproductive. He wants to be in a low curve aggro deck, not a deck topping out with Aurelia.

I really just want to play those cards, and nothing tier 1 or 2 has been even close to viable for the battalion mechanic. I wish it was. I might try to force this and see what happens I guess it what im saying, Lol! There are some lower curve guys with battalion so it has the potential to curve out with decent protection from boros charm and legions initiative. I really really don't think anything will come of it, but man I wanna bash people's face with those r/w angels.

Wr seem quite good with Iroas, cards like Acolyte's Reward can act as strong removal spells as well.
I can help you build a list once the next set comes out (though I most likely won't play it since its much too much like rx devotion for me)

I think it could be a thing, and it'd be nice to play cards that haven't gotten hardly any play since they've been out. Firemane is a powerful card, but it is so reliant on other factors.

We know. You were on Xvideos.
This set is working out to be the EDH set to me. Nothing spoiled so far that demands a pre-order. This is good cause I am still modern staple hunting.
Thinking about doing a special article in my Thread on the differences and uses on .308, 300 whisper, 6.8, 50 Beowulf, 5.7, and .223. So many uppers and/or lowers for AR's are showing up. Folks might buy the wrong one for their needs. Would anyone be interested in reading that?

Some are really funny. Others are O_o.
If you want a simple laugh; my sister found this gem.

Funny as hell. It's just short stories with kindergardener drawings.

Cardboard Crack makes me chuckle a little sometime but for the most part it's not funny at all. It practically explains the joke it's trying to tell almost every time, which makes it instantly unfunny

Someone linked Hyperbole and a Half's entry on what depression feels like, which I found very interesting.

She has TONS of short stories. If you look throughout right side drop down list; there is more. My favorites are how a sandwich makes you it's bitch and the Birthday part deer hunt (the evil girls play "the grey" with a teen boy).

Travis Woo, Fires of Salvation, throwing stones, glass houses, etc. etc. etc.
I think the only difference is we don't have Ali Aintrazi to play our bad brews on camera for us.

Allie Brosh is the author, she made a pretty hilarious book of her short stories / comics and I recommend it. She's also a Magic fan and a huge LSV fangirl, she's actually been at multiple west coast GP's over the past few years.

Going to start Brewing Ajani Decks for the LGS. Don't think the cards good, but the information should be useful regardless.
I think the best thing the card does is function as Gavony township, so I feel the core of the deck should be brimaz(makes tokens) Elvish mystic(mana accelration is inherently amazing, making your enablers into actual cards seems good) and the naya walkers since you'd be a board control deck.
Posted: Thu Apr 10, 2014 9:45 pm

He certainly makes Elvish Mystic decks a LOT better. Naya Walkers seems like a natural fit with Xenagos and Domri being a thing.
