Kiora is more likely to ultimate then koth cause it's blue.
no, koth is more likely to ultimate, then kiora, because kiora has less starting loyalty than koth, unless you're always casting kiora first and/or have no legal targets for koth's +1.

bullying about grammar and heated discussions about whether two planeswalkers from entirely different standard formats in different colors and that do different things are likely to ultimate, Rumor Season 2014 is Hotting Up.

I'm finding the current deviation of the discussion rather hilarious, since I've gotten into several heated debates now about the viability of Kiora's ultimate; I'm all for dropping whales on people a la Aquaman, but as far as PW ultimates go getting a blocker at the end of the turn you active the ultimate just seems really lackluster, and it's something a lot of decks are going to be able to play around. In a lot of scenarios, just keeping her around and drawing 5 cards and getting 5 additional land drops seems better, and I'm not talking corner cases, either.
@ham: best I found:

The really bad thing about kiora is that she dies to any decent burn spell. She protects herself better than koth, but good luck protecting yourself when any bolt kills you.

That's a big "depends". Facing a burn or burn/aggro deck, I would say no. I used Koth to great extent and dropped his ultimate multiple times. Kiora only names target card. Not all mutuvaults in play. I am more irritated by RTR jace hitting the field that Kiora.

Actual threat with +1, easier to cast, ultimate is good the turn activated, better against control, and had a significant starting loyalty. :smileup:

Kiora seems poorly imagined in the picture and her abilities needed more thought in creation. Blue players can disagree with me all they want, but 4 mana + counter spell to protect her against burn does not appear viable. Should I mention there are 2 destroy target plainswalker that are played regularly (heroes downfall and Dreadbore). Not worth the +1 ability or second ability for 4 mana.

Very solid in limited, probably not going to see a ton of play in standard due to the low loyalty counter. I do love mana ramp tho so I hope I'm wrong

+Stops mutavault which alone makes the card reasonable. Anything involving aetherling is irrelephant.
Irrelephant is the best misspelling I've ever seen. My new mission is to find an irrelevant looking elephant and make it a smiley here on DTR.

Keep up the good work
