Ham, I figured I'd let you know that I used Turn tonight to block and kill a Falkenrath Aristocrat via chump block with an Elemental token for max lulz. Thanks Wizards for making indestructible an ability!

Also lived the dream and used Turn and Chandra's plus one to kill a Desecration Demon followed by a next turn ultimate revealing Searing Spear for the win.

I know I'm in the minority opinion on this but a 20 red/10 white mana base shouldn't give you trouble casting RR or W. Pre scry, Turn 3 RR is a 89% chance and Turn 2 W is 80%. I need to ask since our decks are quite different: How often do you want to turn 2 boros charm? For me, the answer is never but I run way more permanents than you do.

Ham, have you tested post sideboard against orzhov? Sin collector, duress, Viskopa, desecration demon, and ghost council is beatable but I feel they definitely have the advantage. Do you just go all in and try to burn through them or answer them?

I really want to test with 2-3 renounce the guilds sideboard for that matchup alone.

I haven't run into anyone on cockatrice running [mana]BW[/mana], but Renounce the Guilds sounds like a good solution to Ghost Council. Assemble the Legion is likely a good answer to Desecration Demon, even if it's slow. Black has no out to enchantments.

Chandra is so good, it's unbelievable. The people who said Chandra would see fringe play = lulz.

I tend to get it every 3rd or 4th game on Cockatrice. The demon alone I can handle with tokens, it's the volume of the others plus continual lifegain that hurts. I still want to test racing under the deck but I'm not sure it's the right call. -4 chandra, +2 act of treason, +2 wear // tear is the best I can come up with. They're usually sporting underworld connection and the whip of erebos which are both irritating.

And from testing, assemble is too slow for us.

Though speaking of, renounce does also hit assemble so there's that.

I get the feeling Purphoros is going to be the first cut in my deck. I'm sideboarding him too much for comfort.

I've been seeing enough enchantments and artifacts that keeping wear // tear sideboard seems like the right idea but I've yet to ever actually use the spell.

Racing a deck with Desecration Demon may be a correct call with Act of Treason depending on the deck you're running. But running Young Pyromancer and Chandra's Phoenix would shore up the typically poor matchup you would have against him. If running RW with Chandra's Phoenix and Young Pyromancer you have tokens, Phoenix, and Chained to the Rocks that can deal with him.

[deck]
Creatures (8)
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Chandra's Phoenix

Spells
3 Chained to the Rocks
4 Shock
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
4 Boros Charm
1 Hammer of Purphoros
2 Flames of the Firebrand
2 Lightning Helix
3 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Pyromancer's Gauntlet

Lands (24)
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
1 Boros Guildgate
3 Plains
12 Mountain
[/deck]

...and of course it looks pretty similar to what Zem posted earlier. What a coincidence.

My current list is on the last page and does run a full set of Young Pyromancer and Phoenix. The demon isn't the card that is the problem, it's Viskopa and Ghost Council. Demon just makes a bad situation worse. Bringing in chained is a bad choice on that matchup.

http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=538133. This is the Primer for the list I'm trying to beat. The cleaned up lists I'm seeing run something like:

[deck]
Creatures
4 Desecration Demon
2 Obzedat, Ghost Council
4 Blood Baron of Vizkopa
4 lifebane zombie
Some amount of Alms Beast and/or high priest of penance

Spells

2 Whip of Erebos
4 Thoughtsieze
3 Hero's downfall
3 Doom Blade
2 Underworld connections
3 Read the bones
Other removal

Lands

25 lands

Sideboard

4 Sin collector
4 Duress
No idea on the rest[/deck]

Most decks look like they're subbing out Lifebane for Sin
collector and Thoughtsieze for duress. I suspect they're pulling out high priest or some removal for more beaters too.

They have some dead cards game one but game 2, they're picking apart my hand.

Oddly, the non-competitive forum has a better representation of the deck lists. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=538049

Gauntlet, huh?

And the effect stacks?

So, I may be testing that as a 2-3-of over Stormbreath Dragon.

Please report back on how it tests, thirst. I think it's great in my version, probably less exciting in the Pyromancer variant.

I was thinking for Big Boros so it's probably a no-go, but I still want to try it out.

Chandra +1 for 5 and 5 will end a game quickly, but now that the shine has worn of the idea I'm pretty sure 3 cards and 14 mana can be better spent.

Keeping Chandra protected for that long would be a hell of a trick. If hero's downfall weren't in the exact same deck that all the other creature removal is in, you could try boarding out dragons for this as a harder plan to break up versus anything not running red or green.

Mostly I think you just end up with dead Chandras.

Yes but you can't have enough mana up if you go Chandra --> Gauntlet --> Gauntlet. Though I suppose you can always just go play a new Chandra or any number of burn to the face at that point. It just depends how much other burn you expect to have.

I don't know about Chandra into double gauntlet, I was just spitballing a way to deal with Hero's Downfall. It's likely to be a match full of bad feels.

Skullcrack seems pretty good against Boon Satyr-on-Fiendslayer Paladin (a thing in Bant), and against Turbo Fog (a thing I'm my local meta).
