Thoughtflare is a good card, so it's reasonable that he would play it.

Lots of cheap interaction early, then you find a hammer, resolve it and proceed to draw 100% useable cards for the rest of the game.

4 Augury and 2 Thoughtflare seems a bit much in a deck like this.

I'd rather play 4 thoughflare and 2 divination

grixis has always and will always suck

Grixis is good when you have battlecrusier cards a la cruel ultimatum and titans. It's pretty dookie otherwise which I find unfortunate.
