Yeah, rcw, sealed is way more skill than luck, easy. Some pools are better than others, sure, but that doesn't stop you from losing to a pile of commons that actually work together.

Yeah, in Draft you only get three chances for that limited rare bomb. Sealed you get six.
Honestly, there is one more layer of luck in draft that I haven't mentioned. It's the 13 year old Timmy who happens to be sitting just to your right, passing you removal and card draw and all around awesome cards because he's just going for the stuff that's cool.

I got passed a p2p2 Pack Rat by an otherwise good player. I was so happy.

Did you do it? 39 swamps and a Pack Rat?
I know someone who did it with 38 swamps and two Pack Rats.

I was in a team draft, DGM, GTC, Rav and got passed pack rat. My team swept round 1. I had turn 2 pack rat both games vs. the guy who passed it to me(a good buddy). He crushed me both games.

Draft sucks dick ass. I know it since my opponent had Thragtusk and I had Wit's End.
I fucking hate draft.
Draft should die to thousands of cancers.

Ha, no. I had a solid Golgari deck.

I have to learned sealed core set for GP Sydney. I am not looking forward to it at all. Still, the team I will be working with figures that, much like anything, the more prepared you are, the better you will do and I strongly suspect that many of the participants will be largely winging it; prep for a sealed GP is much less fun and much more complicated than prep for a constructed GP.
My goal is just to cash though; I won't have the same edge that I do in constructed formats.

I've done a lot of limited. This is all the advice I can give you: Study up on all the possible archetypes and how they stack up to each other. You get 15 x 6 cards, which is 67 more than you need for a deck. You only need 23 good cards. When you see your pool figure out
which of the archetypes you can build the best from it. Do the math, have a good curve. Knowing what else is possible in this format helps you prepare your deck to face that.
You also carry with you enough experience from Standard to know what kind of things the deck you put together will be weak to. You'll also know what sideboard cards will be best for those matchups.
If you have a friend or two and have the time before your first match, get some practice in with the deck you made. Even if you build the perfect deck from your pool, it really helps to have a few trial runs to become familiar with it.
Keep all that in mind; I'm sure you'll do fine. You're actually not half bad at this game.

You work for CFB. You have access to two highly respected sealed players. You're in a great position to be successful.

Don't wprry, I will be bugging the shit out of Ben Stark. I am really, really motivated to do well now. Having multiple pros tell you that you can play is a huge confidence boost; and I know that to do better I cannot just keep mtgo grinding for value, I need to proactively work on aspects of my game that I have been neglecting.

My friend lost in the finals of a PTQ last year to a guy with 2 Pack Rat, 4 removal, land. Grotesque.

You can still grind on mtgo for value and up your limited skills, just do drafts and sealed events and do them well. You can still grind for profit, but you have to do a lot better to keep up (to cover the cost of the packs you open in the event).

You just need a much larger bankroll for Limited in general. Alternative is to play Phantoms but they are only running RTR block and M14, not to mention the player base in those events tend to be much less skilled.

The first time I took a common out of my pack one I felt like I was doing something insane, even though I knew it was better than everything else in the pack.

It's definitely a weird feeling the first time. But it also makes you feel more mature.
And you really appreciate all those weird cards with odd and expensive seeming activated abilities. A good mana sink is always appreciated.

I played the Duels of the Planeswalkers game when it first came out. I was absolutely pissed that it tapped my mana for me.
If I had two islands and two swamps in play and two Doom Blades in hand, I could never cast both in the same turn.

Absolutely hate the timer on DotP. Even if you pause that damn counter, it re-starts after a bit.

So apparently there's an iq tomorrow that I just learned about... Not sure if I should go or not...
Of course, considering my current lack of a car, transportation WOULD be difficult...

The shotgun has been cleaned and loaded, and the swords and knives have been sharpened. It's unfortunately too cold to prep the piranha tank.

Jesus 973 pages. . . I think I'll just give up on trying to get caught up and just pretend I get all the inside jokes.
Also, I pray to God that I have sons. One dick to worry about versus 10million. . .
Also with the population growth, is there a new DtR clan? My box bit the dust and havent gotten to log in to MODO in a while so the FoS clan is probably sorely lacking in members. . .
