This author from Ireland came up to our door a while back. Apparently authors selling their books door-to-door is common over the pond? Anyway, I talked to him for quite a while and my wife ended up inviting him for dinner (he declined), so that might be a good angle to look at. Just make sure you've got some interesting stories and you're good to go!

Nor is this without precedent, ancient Greece/Rome had some pretty severe communistic tendencies and they fed Christians to lions as a form of mass entertainment.My brother's a communist.
