Saiyuki is one of the best as well. It's 3 seasons long and 100 eps about these four warriors traveling West to stop the reincarnation of this demon lord. It's a retelling of the ancient Chinese 'Journey to the West' tale.

the manga is infinitely better than the anime and this is based on reviews from people who are actually yaoi fans.

i don't have a comparison point but the manga was good enough to get me to read 16 volumes before a delay in printing more knocked me off schedule

Plus it takes place in France, since I know the country like the palm of my hand (lived years in Paris, Orleans, and Toulouse, have been a lot to Marseille and Bordeaux), I hope it lives up to the expectations.
