The budget was obviously cut off. They found one of the last remains of land. The whole "the bad guys are after us for some reason" was explained poorly in like five minutes. They started pulling additions to the plot out their asses, like the slutty girl with perfect Iberian Spanish turned out to be the daughter of the bad boss, who had a french accent and looks nothing like her.

The big star actor wasn't even in the last 4 or so episodes before the finale, due to some obscure and unexplained kidnapping and he obviously filmed the last episode at a separate time than the actress playing his love interest, as the only scene in which they are at the same location, their only interaction is a look they share from across the room and are never in the same frame.

Lots of things unexplained, like this airplane that shows up out of nowhere and drops a crate with goodies for the ship crew in the island. The final minutes of the finale are nothing but scenes from throughout the series, while the main actor narrates what happened to the characters (like they couldn't even film the happy ever after parts) and then a very cliched "it's happening again" quake at the end.
