If UW was the primary control deck, I think UWr is an excellent choice, but that isn't the case.

This is why I wanted people to talk me out of it. I was going to do it because I wanted people to not know what to do since they never see me play control. I kind of wonder what it is like to actually cast a Rev. Jace is heavily overpriced on MTGO so I can't really test without printing a ton of proxies.

Never cast a Rev, a Jace, or a DSphere. I did Verdict a few times last season with my UWR Burn/Tempo deck. People around here called that my "control" deck. It was just Geist, Snap and 16 burn spells.

What's wrong with the current iteration of Esper, the formats arguably best deck?

Its just a UB Midrange deck, splash Rev; yes, some of the cards will be similar, but there will be differences; it certainly won't have the same endgame.

UBx Control post BnG was on the MoW + "Mind Control" plan, will you being doing something similar Z? G0d_Lik3 was doing something crazy with Pack Rats and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver at the time as well.

(I sers. think Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver is very underrated, with such a low casting cost he (it?) can be a major player against the control mirror and midrange MUs)

I was thinking along those lines too; G0D_Lik3 and I are good mates (he helped test the burn deck for the recent GPT).

@Kait & I02: I'm sitting on about 130+ THS boosters now, its going to take at least 2-3 months until the next set gets released online so I can't really wait that long.... since I'm almost in the red because I only sell BNG - would it be worth the gamble to just play Sealed with the boosters and just sell all the money rares I crack? How many Money rares does THS have anyways?

Elspeth, Stormbreath Dragon, Polukranos, Master of Waves, Thoughtseize, Xenagos and a few gods.

Not sure if I would crack them. Usually not the greatest EV to try to pull rares.

I won't be JUST cracking them, I'll play Sealed for about 2 tickets and 6 boosters and try and win more QP and Booster while looking for money rares (if THS has enough money rares to hunt for).

If you have skill in limited, it might be an option. You need those packs to play anyway. I wouldn't do it but I suck pretty hard in most limited formats.

I'm fairly green at limited myself :( I also don't really like the idea of earning limited QP either - but I need to get the bank rolling again somehow (or I can just Frugal it out for another 2-3 months).

Go to this website:

http://www.magicev.com/

Check: Use your pack.
Check: Incl. opened packs EV
Put Your value per QP at 5.33 (current price of promo fow is 80, you should be able to sell for that later or wait half a year and sell for 120. Just put sth here)

Adjust your limited win rate. At 50 % you get 0,46 tixes in plus. That means you get 0,5 tix value of cards and revards and qps for your 2 tixes and 6 packs.

Notice that currently Value for 1 pack of theros is 0.84. Compare it to RTR (1.35). Prices of mythics and rare SHOULD go up after everyone and their mothers stops playing theros.

Btw that means if u are 50 - 50 in limited you dont loose anything. Being better (going up to 60) gives you huge boosts, especially in premier events (they only charge 2 TIXES plus PACKS to participate. IT IS SAME AS DAILY)

If you're a good limited player, you can make good returns from playing sealed when the booster buy prices are low. If you're marginal at limited like me, or you can handle sitting on them for another few months, you may be better off not bothering and just dipping into the red temporarily with the longer view in mind.

I have 32 THS boosters sitting around that I'm just going to sit on until they come back up to 3+ tickets, even if it takes until the next expansion or the core set. Flipping them now won't really affect my life, so I'm fine with letting them appreciate in value to build my collection.

When I sent a nightveil specter to MDU I realized just how much I speculated on THS. I have 50+ of each of the THS scry lands, 50 nightveils, and 20 hero's downfall...I really hope the scry lands go up to 3+ tix at some point in the future

The scrylands should rise a fair bit, but it probably won't be until next winter. Wasn't Hero's Downfall over $10 a little while ago? You probably missed the boat on that one.

It was 10 tix in November...I bout mine for 2 tix or less each about a moth ago. I think these are all good speculation targets cause I never paid more than 2 tix for any of it and never more than 1.2 for a scry land so it should pay off in spades if they even hit 3 tix

It was always cheap online. Lots of non-mythic rares are (and should be) less than ten tickets.
