Totally agree, I've played the different builds of Atarka - tokens, Flamewakes, landfall and none of them really cut it as every other list has gazillions of life gain effects. Standard is terrible right now, IMHO

What a difference 4 days and not being a grouchy bastard makes! I'm thoroughly enjoying Standard and having a great time with Atarkafall

I'm on the landfall variant. I don't think it's the 'best' as I know that people are posting results with all 3 versions but it's the one I've had most success with. Abzan Aggro decks are starting to pack Self-Inflicted Wound though so it may be that a switch to the PVDDR tokens list is a better meta choice moving forward. Here's where I'm currently at

I've given up on Modern - so I think it might be a great time to play standard again - only issue is that pedros has my 4x Abbot and I'm not willing to rebuy them. I like this all or nothing approach: list mainly because the lack of burn = no reach or hope against many list during the late game.
