Spellstutter Sprite isn't terrible especially in a list with Mutavaults and three Cliques. Not sure if it's better than Lavaman though.

Haha, aww yeah. "Tough" Nerd runs rampant at my LGS.
Same here.

I like to stare those people down in the parking lot while downing my beer as I'm holding in my joint toke. When I exhale, I tell them to put their fucking hands in the air. They usually don't know what to make of that and quickly stop
their rant about how awesome they are or how next time they're gonna dominate some 12-year old in a game of Magic that they just lost too.
Dude. YOU are Tough Nerd.
No way. I'm drunk and high nerd. :unibrow:

Lavamancer wrecks too many decks for me to cut him.

It's also my invitational card, little known fact.

Only a fucking legend could design that card.

They don't have stars down there.

Well they do, but I think they have to stand on their heads to see them or something.

Speaking of Australia, I'm hellbent on going there one day. I want to drink a bottle of mead and box a wild kangaroo.

I heard the water flushes down the toilet in THE WRONG DIRECTION!!!

Australia is a place devoid of reason. That said, it is on my bucket list. I've wanted to go there since I was a kid.

Just FYI I'm totally joking about the water thing. That's a popular misconception of Coriolis force.

Kills one of the main characters by punching a hole in his chest with a fist made of lava.

Pretty accurate IMO.

Really? I thought that was true.

What about Drop Bears?

If you were going to an actual serious modern tourneyment, (and had unlimited budget), what would you take?

(For everyone)

I would want to take affinity, but I heard that is actually a hard deck to play well, so I would probably just bring Chandra Jund.

Probably kill myself because the format sucks.

I have no idea. I have fun playing Modern but only because it's relatively new to both me and my meta. It's just not an interesting format as far as the competitive scene goes.

I'd play UR Delver or Naya Zoo if I had unlimited funds.

I see you're already casting Condescend per my advice.

If I could honestly help it though I'd just attend a Legacy event instead (and that's coming from someone who has yet to play a game in the format).

Also if anyone wants to play some cockatrice, I'll be on all evening, seeing as I'm stuck in a chair for the forseeable future.

This is also the correct answer.

I'd be happy if someone could suggest a budget modern deck. Else, standard is where I belong.

My modern scene was pretty damn wide open when I came back into magic during Innistrad. I scared the shit out of my locals running a homebrewed goblin deck which curved out at Hellrider. Now the locals know better and our modern scene has a meta. Modern Masters helped out but we were lucky enough that our shop sold it damn near close to MSRP.
