My understanding of he situation is that Rez created Pedro's ability. A 'backup' in mafia is a role that only becomes active when the role they're backing up dies. An example being a 'Nurse' (or Backup Doctor) is a vanilla until the Doctor dies, then the nurse becomes a doctor and gets to use the protection ability. Typically this is to limit the number of active power roles in the town so that only X many are active at any given time.

Now, as for being a "universal backup", I would assume that means that he basically started as a vanilla and gained the abilities of the first person that died. I don't know the technicalities obviously, but I would assume that's his ability for the rest of the game or he switches roles to the most recent dead person. (Anything beyond that is just guesswork without them confirming his role)

Stardust, I want to ask you if all the roles submitted have actually been assigned, or did you have to change things in order to balance the settings?

Can I also ask you if you just assigned roles randomly? Can we expect town people to have town roles and bad guys have scummy ones, or there's no guarantee of that?
