lol, just played someone trying to jam MBC on cockatrice, i don't think sitting around for three turns getting beatdown by a sligh curve is a productive strategy unless you have boardwipes. And like others I should be doing homework

The MBC people are a lot like us - every season they try to force one archetype to be relevant in the meta.

The difference is that they nearly always fail. ;-)

Two major losses for MBC are with Mutilate and BatmanVampire Nighthawk rotating out. Perhaps Theros will have something similar in the next expansions?

Also, practicing in tourney prac room, and nothing like sacrificing a newly played Pyreheart wolf to two triggers of Desecration Demon. I'm gonna miss the pup real soon.

Jeez, Thirst...quit using your tool as a relative comparator for measurements. That image was poster-size!

Seriously, the first image is smaller than the second two on my screen.

I got rid of it, though.

I don't know what was wrong, but I use Chrome and the image was super huge. This second image is fine.

Could be a browser thing. Red's browser shrinks the image to fit on the screen, while most of us have the browser set to show the image at its actual size, thus causing it to be cropped.

You did so with Imposing Sovereign too if I recall. I can't help you build better decks or become a better, more well-rounded player if you just want to refute every argument I make because you like your pet cards or estranged ideas without concrete arguments.
Irony levels at maximum!

I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.

To be fair, he is getting better. A little better. All he needed was his own Kamahl in the form of civilwargoat to disgust him enough that he'd be forced to improve.

Haven't been following him, but one of his posts was both coherent and sensible. I was, frankly, amazed.

He's been popping into some of the Red threads over on Sally.

Likely involves letting Thirst's member purge his profane ideas of magic theory.

To those of you going to a Standard event this weekend,

I am starting to change my mind about running MonoRed Sligh and really think Big Red(or Boros) might be the right metagame call.

I am thinking it is going to be tough for people to get all the cards for midrange decks, and build them. This combined with the fact that its a new meta and people gravitate toward aggro early, I think there is going to be a lot of MonoRed and G/W aggro decks running around at this weeks StarCity in Worcester.

Monored can be tough in mirror and has a pretty bad Green-based aggro deck matchup. On the other hand it wrecks most of the control out there right now and can be a tossup against midrange depending on the deck and if Anger of the Gods.

Since it would be really stupid to bring control to the first event of the season in a sea of mono-red, one of the decks toughest matchups, I don't expect much control till the meta settles.
n
Therefore, I want a red deck better suited for aggro and midrange opponents, and Big Red seems to be the logical choice.

What have you all been leaning towards playing this weekend?

by zemanjaski
Mono Red Sligh, but my plan is to leverage experience in Red mirrors, since I've played Red before this season, which should give me an experience edge over 100% of red players ill face

The Rak. You get real kill spells. Plus Rakdos's Return. Plus DD. Though I'm halfway between it and Kuroda. Because Chained to the Rocks.
