Well, I can move the thread to Modern, the archetype is good there, albeit a LOT different.

Nah, that should probably get its own fresh primer if someone wanted to create it. Since I don't own any Dark Confidants or Tarmogoyfs, and I'm holding out for Theros copies of Thoughtseize, I shouldn't speak to the Modern version.

Also, for our Tier 2+ members, the T-Shirt interest thread is now open in the Restricted forums. If you want one, be sure to post up.
Link please! This reorganization has me confused.

So...last chance to play sanctioned Extended next FNM for me. I couldn't go last week with my modern goblins, so I thought I'd do it this time instead. This should be Extended legal:

[deck]
Lands (20)
14 Mountain
4 Copperline Gorge
2 Teetering Peaks

Creatures (24)
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Goblin Guide
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Goblin Wardriver
4 Goblin Chieftain

Spells (16)
4 Krenko's Command
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Goblin Grenade
4 Dynacharge

Sideboard
4 Shrine of Burning Rage
3 Combust
4 Ancient Grudge
4 Arc Trail
[/deck]

Any thoughts on the above? Khaospawn, you're the goblin man, anything I've missed (besides Caverns...)?

Pauper is strictly a casual format, right? No tournaments?

It's a real format on MTGO. It's actually a really sweet format. There are 2 different competitive mono red decks.

Other than MTGO daily events...?

Pauper is not a casual format. We play it here on Tuesdays.

Access to the brewery comes with Tier 2 membership, which comes from putting in your time and making posts.

Sorry. Keep posting up stuff and adding to the conversations and you'll get there.

It appears my LGS doesn't do Pauper.

That leaves MtGO...which I honestly never learned how to navigate.

Feel free to ask about brews here or in Standard forums though. Yesterday whole forum got cleaned up - that's why it looks empty.

Photo- are you done organizing? There are several duplicate threads and I'm not totally sure where to post.
I'm about done with building, I believe, but we're going to need to decide what to do with some stuff...

So here's the basic layout of things--

Building off of the idea of the original brewing thread I started, I expanding our creative content area out to a full forum. The purpose of
this was to reduce the sheer amount of material being posted in one place and thus make specific things easier to find and general things easier to research. The Brewery is subdivided into 3 logical areas given the nature of this clan--R(x)(x) Standard, Non-Red Standard, and everything else.

From there, the only extra organizational levels thus far are within the Red Standard forum. At the top, I have five stickies representing the five major flavors of red decks--Mono-Red, Boros, Gruul, Izzet and Rakdos. The purpose of these stickies to act as chronological stores of deck ideas--an ongoing brewing discussion for that particular deck flavor. This is where deck ideas should be aired or at least stored; it is also where I will endeavor to carry things that come up in this clan thread that we don't want to lose. Obviously moving stuff that way is labor-intensive, so the less we have to move, the better.

For topics/decks that don't fit in the stickies, you can create a new thread, as I did for LK's proposed Jund deck. In other words, just like on Sally or any other site.

I think this structure will work well for what we would want it for, which is brewing and sharing
of information that we're not ready to release out into the open forums. This clan stayed well ahead of the curve with a number of archetypes this past season, and we're all well aware that there are folks who grabbed content and presented it as their own in more prominent arenas. This provides us with the ability to organize and explore ideas and hopefully be able to easily find what we want and see what's already here.

ISSUES:

-We have several discussion threads--some redundant such as the multiple mono-red-post-Theros threads--that contain many, many posts. I have moved them around to the areas where they best fit, but we have to decide what to do with them. What I would suggest is that everyone who's made use of these threads go back through and copy/paste anything you still think relevant into the new discussion stickies/forums. Ultimately, I'd like to lock all those threads to prevent confusion over where people are talking and where one should post.

-This whole restructuring is only
as good as we make it. The overbearing modding on Sally drove us all nuts, but the one thing they do well is keep things tidy and easy to browse. Given that this is just a behind-the-curtain clan strategy area, I don't expect we're going to generate enough content to really scrub up the place, but things work best if everyone is on the same page.

-Thread naming--I posted an announcement that I need everyone to read and comment on as needed. This is simply a proposed use of prefixes to help organize threads.

Okay, wall of text now and I need sleep.

Please post questions, comments, gripes, whatever...if this works for the clan, awesome! If not, tell me what you want different and we'll go from there.
Looks like we definitely found the right man for the job.

Great work, Jerry.

How bad I am for running Chaos Imps in Kuroda Boros? I do have 2 Hammer of Purphoros, but I still feel awkward even while results it gives are pretty damn good as long as I don't face UW Control.

The bans they announced on Monday should help with that.
Things that should have also been banned include but are not limited to:

Gush.
Snap.
Ninja of the Deep Hours.
Cloud of Faeries.

The format still isn't healthy. I'd even argue Kiln Fiend or Nivix Cyclops probably should have gotten the axe too, although that deck at least plays fair-ish Magic.

Banning Cloudpost doesn't really help that deck be any less oppressive, since it's still a complete lockout deck. The only difference is now it has to win by means that do not include common Eldrazi.

I responded in the other thread. tl;dr Given no previous damage having been done, they are essentially the same; but one has pro-white, and the other can block Desecration Demon. One half-dozen or the other.

Cloud of faeries is the closest of those to being broken, and I'm not sure it gets there. Gush doesn't even see much play, snap is annoying but not a big deal, and ninja is strong, but not unfair in any way.
The format still isn't healthy. I'd even argue Kiln Fiend or Nivix Cyclops probably should have gotten the axe too, although that deck at least plays fair-ish Magic.

Kiln fiend.
deck is a glass cannon, it's not that hard to disrupt, and it just lost one of it's best matchups
.

I'm not sure what deck you're refering to, fissure is gone entirely, and post decks that didn't play it were never that unfair to begin with, they certainly wont be a problem without cloudpost...

Gush is played in basically every mono blue list since ever?

Temporal Fissure hasn't been the problem in quite a long while. It's been the fact that the deck had literally no bad matchups and could often just slam down an Eldrazi that the opponent couldn't beat as soon as turn 4. And this was WITH countermagic backup.

oh ic, thanks Z.

what the verdict on Awaken the Ancient?

it's a 1RRR so that's mean it's good with devotion.
it's a 7/7 for 4 mana or we can say it 5 mana.
and a haste on top of that.

Verdict is that its a pretty bad card. Especially now that Stormbreath dragon has been printed for a 5 mana "finisher"

I'd say it's quite playable.
The rest of the crew will say "hell no".
My assumption come from fact that UW Control will die out due to bad matchup against UB. But that will not happen during first few weeks.
As long as you can afford loosing a card and land to removal, I'd say it's fine.

Posted: Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:59 pm

It's easy to lose your ass with land enchantments. This one opens you up to a Doom Blade, Ultimate Price, Dreadbore, Peak Eruption, etc. 2 for 1s are bad, so if you're going to tap out for a 5 CMC finisher, at least make it a single card.

Well, the Standard forum cleanout is mostly done. We need to obliterate the old archetype subforums in competitive, but that's something Scumbag is either going to have to give us permissions to do, or he'll have to do it himself, since right now we don't have the mod power to do it ourselves.
Alex, I need to get back to sleep, but when I get up tonight I will check to see if I can admin over in Standard. What do you need done?

Thanks for the feedback, guys. ..I hope you find the changes helpful. Please lmk anything that needs tweaked or modified.

Some decks like RDW just don't mind loosing their lands.
