Mizzium Mortars / Act of Treason are better in my opinion. The reason for this is that your need to kill your opponent quickly in these matchups; so you still need your 1 drops; Mortars and Act supplement your aggro plan very proactively.
Note that I'm not taking about GW aggro here, but instead decks like Naya or GR ramp.

Act of Treason is what you want for Midrange.

I hear 3 mana deal 8+ is ok.

There was PyroRed at some kind of tournament (Standard Platinum TCQ). It had third place (first place? Mono White Weenie!) and basically it was PyroRed with Firefist Strikers and Chandras, but no Hammers and Fanatics.
I actually believe Firefist Strikers might be pretty damn important. Mostly because of Devotion Red as they have two walls that stop us really well - Frostburn Weird and Boros Reckoner.
This guy also played 3 Anger of the Gods in SB. I am still not sure what to think about it. Why not Flames of the Firebrand?

Because people are dumb. You can't get enough of your own creatures out of the 60 to make Anger ok.

Hey Zem, I listened to the chat you and alex had. Good stuff man, I learned quite a bit. One point confused me a bit tho. You said that you think BTE is "actively bad". When you talked about it, you brought up the fact that last season BTE wasn't the reason to splash green (boar and rampager were) and while i agree with this, what about mono red? Do you think it is also bad in mono red currently? Or do you mean using the green mana from BTE to "force" a R/G aggro deck is a bad idea currently?

Yeah I don't think BTE + Rampager is enough to go RG; Flinthoof Boar added enough (in addition to the other two) to make RG good. I don't like RG at all now.
BTE is valid in Mono Red, but I'm not a BTE guy.

There isn't anything worth casting off of Burning-Tree anymore. Flinthoof Boar was an insane card, there's nothing that good in the format right now.
The question you should be asking yourself when considering Byrning-Tree Emissary isn't &
quot;what can I cast" but rather "how good is the thing I'm going to cast?" Because Firefist Striker and Gore-House Chainwalker aren't going to cut it.

Thanks for the feedback on Stormbreath. Not that anyone is surprised, but Hammer is, in actual fact, the nuts.

I have to agree on BTE. BTEs into Flinthoof Boar was really sweet. BTEs into Lightning Mauler was really sweet as well. Heck, BTEs into Rancor on your 1-drop was pretty ok. That's three reasons why BTE isn't so interesting right now. GHC or Firefist Striker just doesn't compare, and what else is there to chain into? Nothing worth even considering.

Oh, and the loss of Hellrider really hurts it as well.

the problem I had against RBW midrange was I couldnt act of treason for lethal when he played his first demon, or get enough of a board precense to be able to steal a reckoner/2nd demon/ w/e to steal, sac and have lethal. So if I tried to steala demon hed just sac a guy and crack back for lethal because demons fucking hurt
Is the correct play to just act a lone demon for nonlethal damage sometimes?

I mean I don't have nearly the experience with this kind of deck as you but it's gotta be right? I mean you're stealing spending 3 mana to do at least 6 damage.

You don't always have to go for lethal. You're putting him in range of your burn spells. If he's in range, it will affect his plays significantly.
